THE DEMOCRATS' PLAN
Don't let anyone--not the shills in the media or the right wingers--tell you that the Dems don't have a plan. Here it is, as roughly outlined by DNC Chairman Howard Dean:

Democrats' Plan

Dean said that Democrats will fight for a six-point plan that includes raising the minimum wage, tax ``fairness'' for the middle class, ``a complete ban on gifts and travel from lobbyists,'' the inspection of all cargo coming into U.S. ports, fixing the Medicare drug plan and ``transition'' in Iraq.

``Iraqis need to take responsibility for their own future,'' Dean said.

He also said that Democrats seek immigration legislation that ``secures our borders, protects American workers and enables immigrants who work hard, obey our laws and pay taxes a path to earn the rights and privileges of citizenship.''

1. I Like It
As long as it REALLY DOES PROTECT AMERICAN WORKERS!!

How many times have I heard that one?? I'll believe it when I see it.
I'll still vote Democratic...ANYTHING is better than the asshole Repukes now in charge, but, damnit, I want to see some REAL PROGRESS made in terms of our economy, or I'm gonna be pissed.

3. People keep saying that Dems don't offer alternatives,
that they don't have a plan.

It doesn't look that way to me.

20. It's an automatic admission of ignorance, induced by relying on corporate
media solely for information.

2. Thank you, Janx
Too many - including me - have been hearing and absorbing way too much from certain other party leaders who aren't willing to enunciate a plan. Dean is, blessedly, not that reserved!

4. It's not just Dean. He works with Dem members of Congress

and other Dems to formulate these things. I suspect this came from a broad consensus on the part of people in all 50 states and from party leaders in Congress.

Edited to add: You are very welcome.

11. I'm sure you're right
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 01:07 AM by msgadget
but I wanted to give Howard the high-five because another leader dismissed the need for a plan right now. My  is specifically in recognition of his pushing ahead through the southern states and for promoting this six-point plan. Plans are good. I'll give everyone else the same :applause: when I hear them repeating it.

Edit: you're wise to keep reminding people of this

8. Well, has it occurred to you to blame the GOP for that?
They are in total charge of everything. If you are poor, it is their fault for having such a bad economy.

7. Here it is exactly
And where it's been for quite some time.

Along with the Neighbor-to-Neighbor canvassing project, which is stunning to me that it isn't getting more attention around here.

15. It's probably not prudent to include a lot of details just yet.
But the basics are solid and good. November is going to be very interesting.

21. Equitable overall tax fairness for every American.
Overall taxes on the middle class are higher than those of the rich. This should not be.
Overall taxes on the poor is outrageously high compared to what they have left beyond a meager living.

It's not just the middle class.
Republicans are the opposite of this and Dean's statement.
