Its not the richest city, for sure...I don't doubt this is happening...though to be he honest, Albuqueruqe is not a large city...one could use public transportation, and even bicycles to get around.

In terms of land area, Albuquerque is much bigger than Manhattan Island.

What if people just want to go visit family in a near by town? What if they own a small business? I don't get your insensitive post. Their are thousands of people in Albuquerque who will not be able to take vacations etc. because of the rising gas prices. This is a HUGE burden for people scraping by. What about going to the grocery store, what about running errands, what about taking the kids to school??????

will cause people to arrive to work hot, sweaty, and smelly. Unless workplaces want to install showers, it's just not going to work.

Bike commuting was possible in Boston. THAT was a small city.

7. I've heard about that here, but I also noticed a BUNCH of garage

sales in my little neighborhood this weekend. Of course, it's spring and nice weather, when lots of people typically have their garage sales. But I've never seen this many all at once, ever. I live in a small neighborhood (12 one-block long streets and one street 12 blocks long) and counted seven yesterday. Don't know if it's GAS, directly, but as far as I can tell, nobody who lives here is rich by any means, and I can imagine many of them are struggling for one reason or another.

11. I have always said that all are connected in the economic picture,

some connections are cables some are ropes and many are just individual threads, but it is all connected. Like ripples in a pond.

The Economy, IMO, is at its best when the greatest amount of people spend the greatest amount of cash.

This is a simple theory and I am in no way an economist, but it seems pretty basic.

I used to be against the welfare situation, but applying my theory above our taxes that went to the less fortunate were actually put directly into the economy but buying STUFF. Even if it is food or gas or ever BEER! Because the cash was moving we all benefited. The ones receiving the welfare are less likely to mug me for my wallet. Yes No!?

If you give a wealthy person more money,..... they have more money, but it does not necessarily go back into the economy.

If you give a poor person more money they spend it!
