OSAMA!!! OSAMA!!! OSAMA!!! OSAMA!!!
Boogieman coming to eat your babies! Fear! Boogieman coming to kill! Fear! FEAR!

One last Rovian Hail Mary falls flat, as the final throes get desperate.

*Note to Homeland Security, U.S. Government, BushCo & Republicans, Inc., and the propaganda catapulting Corporate Republican Media:

People aren't buying it anymore, and you are pissing into the wind. Your poll numbers will continue to tank, because people now know the truth about you and you will never be able to change that fact.

1. I'm hoping that Neil Young juxtaposes sound bites of the Chimp
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 10:28 AM by npincus
threatening to "smoke 'em out of their caves" with "Osama? I don't really think about him" on his "Let's Impeach The President" track, which has a background chorus of "Flip-Flop, Flip-Flop".

Can't wait for that.

4. Don't forget this Friday: the whole album will be streamed for free.
Keep an eye on DU. I plan to post as soon as the stream is available on Neil's Web Site. I'd really like to see the link pinned to the "Listen Live" box on the Forums main page, too.

7. I went to Amazon to try to pre-order
but it's not up yet. I think (hope) that we can drive this baby up the charts before its release... send a message and support this artist. I'll be checking Amazon to see when it's up and will post.

Thanks in advance for posting the stream (GD & GDP?). I CAN'T WAIT.

10. Here's the update I posted on DU last night, including dates:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2584739&mesg_id=2584878

:toast:

I'm sure some folks are thinking "why does it take so long to get the CD out," but there are quality control steps to be taken unless a performer and his label want to deal with the backlash that comes with releasing and inferior, rushed project.

Fans of Young know that when it comes to his music he is a perfectionist and micro-manager. When the CDs are ready, they'll be in the stores (and on Amazon).

2. Did Osama say he was in Iran: "Come and git me?"
I hope it is clear to people WHY Bush did not go after OBL. When anger against BushCo outweighs their fears it is time to trot out an OBL tape.

I do not have the confidence that you do in the common sense of the majority of voting Americans. :-(
I am nervous that at the first sign of "TERRA" they will go running back to the "great white father" Bush. I hope that I am dead wrong.

18. OBL releases have been plummeting in popularity
His last release was a complete flop, and went nowhere on the charts. I think it was a few months back, and DeadEye Dick was whining about Americans just not caring enough anymore.

BushCo & Republicans, Inc. have milked it for all it was worth, and it's difficult for known LIARS to get any credibility. People know that Georgie just doesn't care anymore, and only wants to reap the benefits of the fear factor, as his buddies stick it to them.

8. My sister works for Homeland Security
And just a note -- they work hard every day to protect us from things that we need to be protected from. If some fear-mongering politicians invoke their names for political favor, then it's their fault. It's not the fault of the people who are actually right now working hard to stop bird flu proliferation.

I think these public servants work hard but they should seriously reconsider their border and port security strategies.

16. I think in the end it isn't up to them
It's politicians who have ulterior motives who are handling issues like that.

I do agree that Homeland Security steps over the line in some of its operations; I had a chance to be a roleplayer in a simulation and I disagree with many of their monitoring strategies that I think target mostly innocent citizens.

20. I'm sure there are hard working people in HS
Working very hard to keep Americans "safe" from evil forces that never existed before, and they are just doing their job, just like any other profession. Pedophiles in the upper ranks tend to make me wonder what exactly they are protecting though. The word, "Homeland" automatically draws a repulsive reaction, since it immediately invokes the thought of 1930s Germany.

I'm sure that if I were a college grad that had to accept a job at Homeland Security (see, new jobs created!), instead of going on the unemployment line, and could really dig rearranging Federal Security to keep a Criminal Syndicate safe, then I might be able to accept a new Federal Police Force protecting Americans from new never seen before evils. After all, what would we have done before Katrina, The New World Order, Middle East & Latin America Dictators (after they turn on us), and lest we forget the Holy of all Mother-load days that changed everything, 9/11?

Yep, our Government never really worked before 9/11 changed everything, and it's amazing we all were not killed sooner. If Homeland Security wants to impress me, take some of their funding and invest into stem cell research to actually cure some diseases that are destroying and killing citizens right now (nope, no health or safety there, move along), that the pharmaceuticals are making a filthy fortune on, thanks to a corrupt government. Everything has been turned into a racket to be exploited in the Government, especially if it has been recently created by BushCo & Republicans, Inc., and that does include The Motherland Protector, oops, I mean Homeland Security.

21. Like I said before, I disagree with a lot of what they do
But some things like guarding against bird flu, disaster response (that is if they could actually do it -- my sister actually was assisting refugees and learned they had brought guns and drugs onboard the rescue planes unchecked!), and coordinating police are good things that need to be done.

13. Even John Dean thinks Bush is going to pull something.

An Update on President Bush's NSA Program: The Historical Context, Specter's Recent Bill, and Feingold's Censure Motion
By JOHN W. DEAN

<snip>

The big question is whether there will be an "October Surprise" - a dramatic event that will bump up Bush's currently dismal polling numbers, and help his party. Right now, Republican friends tell me they are doing all they can to keep the mid-terms from being a referendum on Bush. They know they have a better chance if they focus on local races - absent an October Surprise. If you have any knowledge of how White Houses operate, you can be sure they are working night and day to pull off such a surprise.

If Past Is Prologue, George Bush Is Becoming An Increasingly Dangerous President
By JOHN W. DEAN

<snip>
As the 2006 midterm elections approach, this active/negative president can be expected to take further risks. If anyone doubts that Bush, Cheney, Rove and their confidants are planning an "October Surprise" to prevent the Republicans from losing control of Congress, then he or she has not been observing this presidency very closely.

What will that surprise be? It's the most closely held secret of the Administration.

How risky will it be? Bush is a whatever-it-takes risk-taker, the consequences be damned.

One possibility is that Dick Cheney will resign as Vice President for "health reasons," and become a senior counselor to the president. And Bush will name a new vice president - a choice geared to increase his popularity, as well as someone electable in 2008. It would give his sinking administration a new face, and new life.

The immensely popular Rudy Giuliani seems the most likely pick, if Giuliani is willing. (A better option for Giuliani might be to hold off, and tacitly position himself as the Republican anti-Bush in 2008.) But Condoleezza Rice, John McCain, Bill Frist, and more are possibilities.

Bush's second and more likely, surprise could be in the area of national security: If he could achieve a Great Powers coalition (of Russia, China, the United Kingdom, France, and so on) presenting a united-front "no nukes" stance to Iran, it would be his first diplomatic coup and a political triumph.

But more likely, Bush may mount a unilateral attack on Iran's nuclear facilities - hoping to rev up his popularity. (It's a risky strategy: A unilateral hit on Iran may both trigger devastating Iran-sponsored terrorist attacks in Iraq, with high death tolls, and increase international dislike of Bush for his bypass of the U.N. But as an active/negative President, Bush hardly shies away from risk.) Another rabbit-out-of-the-hat possibility: the capture of Osama bin Laden.

If there is no "October Surprise," I would be shocked. And if it is not a high-risk undertaking, it would be a first. Without such a gambit, and the public always falls for them, Bush is going to lose control of Congress. Should that happen, his presidency will have effectively ended, and he will spend the last two years of it defending all the mistakes he has made during the first six, and covering up the errors of his ways.

There is, however, the possibility of another terrorist attack, and if one occurred, Americans would again rally around the president - wrongly so, since this is a presidency that lives on fear-mongering about terror, but does little to truly address it. The possibility that we might both suffer an attack, and see a boost to Bush come from it, is truly a terrifying thought.

When in doubt, create or inflate an enemy. Sure, this makes for a dark & paranoid government -- but they keep their jobs for as long as can keep people scared.
