The Myth of the Republican platform: Fiscal responsibilty, small gov, etc.
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 11:48 AM by devilgrrl
I've lived through 5 Republican administrations in my lifetime a cannot recall any of them cutting government or spending, just a lot of making the top 1% wealthier. So why do I keep hearing this "cut spending" "stay out of people's business" bullshit? Is this just another case of repeating a lie enough times that it becomes the truth? Because that's what I think we have here - another lie repeated for the past 40+ years - OH! It's got to be true!!!!

Bollocks!

Republicans blow money on nothing, bloat government (can you say Homeland Security or faith based initiatives?) and blame others rather than taking responsibility for their own actions. Are we through with this fucking myth yet?

1. All politics are local...
and repubs have succeeded locally in most places. Succeeded in the sense of fiscal matters. That is why states like Mass and NY often vote in Repub Governors.

3. and I bet if someone looked into local fiscal matters...
you'll find that they're just as fiscally irresponsible and full of shit as the federal government.

2. Great point! And they are the originators of crackpot theories
of the economy - a la "trickle down" that never bear any fruit. They also do not understand the correlation between taxes and economies and apparently no one ever told them that you can't just rack up a credit card with the Chinese indefinitely. They also will only use edited and lying statistics that support their world view because "the facts have a liberal bias."

4. Haven't you learned that the MESSAGE from the rethugliCONS......
is ALWAYS the opposite of their real actions and behavior. If we could only get rid of their messenger, then the reality would be much clearer for those in their party who are politically mentally challenged. Until then, the myths will live on and on........

5.  "stay out of people's business" bullshit?
This is the one that gets me. Have you ever seen the government more concerned about what happens in your own bedroom? The want to mess with the personal things in your life.
When they say less government, it means they want government out of the boardrooms and into your bedrooms.

6. FISCALLY responsible? Never. FECALLY Reprehensible?
All the time!

This falls in line with Kentuck's(?) observation that repuke's re just dying for a Democratic agenda so they can have something to un against rather than think up their own solutions. The "repukes are fiscally responsible" dreck came from all those years in the minority when they would simply oppose any democratic legislation by arguing that it was a waste or the cost was too high. However, as you have seen, when they get a chance to actually control te pursestrings in any fashion it "spend city, fuck tomorrow" at full speed.

So next time someone spits out that "fiscally responsible" bullshit, just say back to them; "Is that what they are supposed to be for? All these years I thought they were saying they were "fecally reprehensible", which makes a lot more sense than what you said."
