57. so you're cool right through 44 degrees?
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 07:47 PM by leftofthedial
I have only been frightened once in a commercial plane and that was a very loud thump followed immediately by a rapid loss of 20,000 feet of altitude and an incredibly bumpy flight at an altitude I've only ever really seen during final approach.

Then we got a message from the pilot that the plane had an unnamed mechanical malfunction, that there was no danger and that we would be landing in Detroit (this was a New York to Denver flight).

We must have been at 45 degrees at some point.

On long flights my biggest worry is serious, airborne-transmissible disease. Long flights involve several recycles of cabin air.

22. Those don't involve airborne transmission to humans... yet...
So at the moment I'm more concerned with other strains of flu and various airborne bacterial infections. I have athsma and any respiratory infection can be a serious matter. But once bird flu crosses the human transmission barrier, it will probably zip to the top of the worry list.

cautiously,
Bright

32. Bankruptcy - it happened to me!
I was flying on Continental in the early 90s when they were having financial problems and trying to conserve on gas. They had apparently miscalculated the headwinds or something and the plane ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere! We landed suddenly in a tiny little airport in the middle of some cornfields and had to wait for a refueling truck to come with enough gas to get us the rest of the way. I am a nervous flier anyway (severe claustrophobia) and was a total wreck by the time I got home. Haven't flown since.

55. YOU! YOU! YOU!
Kick-ass flight attendants during an emergency evacuation. Prepare to get your feelings hurt, your ass kicked, and your precious belongings left behind, in a true emergency evacuation. But when you get out of that flaming hulk, prepare to hug and kiss the first professional flight attendant that comes down that slide after the last passenger and last pilot has his/her precious butt on the ground. Yes, we in the cockpit count on the F/As too. Don't ever assume that they are there to "serve" you.
