RNC Response to John Kerry on ABC's This Week

RNC Response to John Kerry on ABC's This Week

1 hour, 1 minute ago

To: National Desk, Political Reporter

Contact: Tracey Schmitt of the Republican National Committee Communications Staff, 202-863-8614

WASHINGTON, April 23 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is the Republican National Committee response to John Kerry on ABC's "This Week":

"Senator Kerry may be pondering a new presidential run, but today he sounded familiar themes advocating a retreat and defeat strategy when it comes to fighting the War on Terror. By offering little in the way of real solutions and a lot in the way of negativity, John Kerry illustrated he's the same candidate whose failed vision was rejected in 2004 by the American people." - Brian Jones, RNC Communications Director

SEN. JOHN KERRY (news, bio, voting record)'S (D-MA) RETREAT AND DEFEAT ON IRAQ

Sen. Kerry's Latest Retreat And Defeat Statements:

Sen. Kerry: "You can't resolve it militarily... our large presence of troops feeds the insurgency and delays the Iraqis standing up for themselves. So get tough, set a timetable and push them." (ABC's "This Week," 4/23/06)

Sen. Kerry: "The civil war will only get worse, and we will have no choice anyway but to leave." (Sen. John Kerry, Op-Ed, "Two Deadlines And An Exit," The New York Times, 4/05/06)

-- Sen. Kerry: "(W)e must set another deadline to extricate our troops and get Iraq up on its own two feet." (Sen. John Kerry, Op-Ed, "Two Deadlines And An Exit," The New York Times, 4/05/06)

Sen. Kerry Has Even Accused US Soldiers Of "Terrorizing Kids" In Iraq:

Sen. Kerry: "There is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children ..." (CBS' "Face The Nation," 12/4/05)

-- Sen. Kerry: "(W)e're still on the front lines going in the homes and going out in the dead of night, and it scares people ..." (MSNBC's "Imus In The Morning," 12/9/05)

Sen. Kerry's Worst Retreat And Defeat Rhetoric From 2004 Campaign:

Kerry Called Iraq's Liberation "Wrong War ... At The Wrong Time" And Declared The Coalition "Phoniest Thing." (Patricia Wilson, "Kerry On Iraq: Wrong War, Wrong Place, Wrong Time," Reuters, 9/6/04)

Kerry Said Our Troops Are Not Doing The Training Necessary "To Establish The Security" In Iraq. (MSNBC's "Imus In The Morning," 9/15/04)

Kerry Said The People Running The Iraqi Election "Just Can't Do It At This Point In Time." (MSNBC's "Imus In The Morning," 9/15/04)

Sen. Kerry: "I believe this administration and its policies is actually encouraging the recruitment of terrorists." (CNN's "American Morning," 8/2/04)

Kerry Said President "Didn't Learn The Lessons" Of Vietnam And Is Putting Soldiers "At Greater Risk." (Pete Yost, "Bush, Kerry Honor Veterans On Memorial Day," The Associated Press, 5/31/04)

I couldn't have done a better job of listing Kerry's dissent to the Bush-Cheney doctrine.

1. Exactly. The damn fools can't resist taking the bait.
This kind of response only illustrates everything Senator Kerry expressed in his speech about dissent and patriotism.

15. I believe that the majority of the Republicans are good
but they have been blinded by their enthusiasm for their party, there is much that is wrong
with the current administration and it has nothing to do with blue state vs red states but
simply what is wrong and what is right.

3. Know what I wish?
That the DNC would post a statement of support of Kerry's speech.

4. They're losing it
The only thing they could do well in the past was smear people.

Now they aren't even very good at that any more. What a bunch of losers.

In the post 9/11 atmosphere maybe these references would hurt Kerry. Now that a majority realize the war was a bad idea and no longer trust the Republicans on national security, pointing these statements out just leads to one conclusion: KERRY HAS BEEN RIGHT ALL ALONG!

6. I wish they had added more
Why didn't they include Kerry's call for regime change in the United States in protest at the start of the war? Why didn't they include Kerry's call for Bush not to rush to war in his Georgetown speech prior to the war? Damn Republicans--can't get anything right.

7. The biggest mistake the RNC can make now is to revert to the same lame...
...responses they've used for the last six years. It's just white noise to Americans now. I'm very glad they're so weak in responding - NOVEMBER IS OURS!

12. Funny, I love the list of articles referenced
I hope the RNC sends this to news organizations across the country. This is a great list of Kerry speaking out and being right. They even summarized what Kerry spoke on - Why would they complain that Kerry said we were doing a bad job training the Iraqi troops in mid September 2004.

has pathetic support on across the board.

The War in Iraq should never be on the back burner so that the Repubs can hide from it. I love how they fell for the bait.

Talk it up idiot Repubs, just keep your mouths yammering on the War on Iraq.
