Senator criticizes Rumsfeld for failing to nab bin Laden

Sun Apr 23, 1:05 PM ET

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US Senator John Kerry criticized Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for failing to capture Osama bin Laden following the broadcast of a new audiotape attributed to the Al-Qaeda chief.

In the tape broadcast Sunday, the Western world's most wanted man called on Muslim fighters to go to Sudan to wage war against "crusader thieves", and slammed the international isolation of the Hamas-led Palestinian government.

Asked for his reaction, Kerry replied: "My reaction is that it underscores the failure of this administration to capture him.

"This is one of the reasons that Donald Rumsfeld should resign," the Democratic senator told ABC television's "This Week" show.

4. Great response, OBL 's capture should have been a top priority
and the fact they let he escape proves they weren't as concerned about 9/11 as they were about finding excuses to invade Iraq and get SH. There is no reason or excuse why this OBL should still be out there making threatening tapes when we are a nation of great power and skill militarily.
