Hu protester. Read this if you didn't get to follow-up on the protest
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 10:08 AM by higher class
and are not sure what went on. Here's an overview, but -

If you can - be sure to watch or iisten to the segment of last Saturday's WJ to get some background on who she is and what she was doing. You may not get this on corporate tv.

Before I start, let me mention that nearly all the callers were supportive of her. I have not witnessed that degree of unanimity in the call-ins in many years and is a reason to watch or listen to it for that phenonema.

The guest. Erphing Zhang, is a spokesperson for Falun Gong. Dr. Wang is a devotee of Falun Gong, but she is also a medical surgeon practicing at a New York hospital.

On Saturday morning, a guest on C-Span provided more background for me. Perhaps it will help get out one side of the story.

Wang's outburst was (mainly?) about human organs and the punishment and imprisonments of Falun Gong members. Zhang said whe was was protesting the way China is getting these human organs.

If what she was protesting is true - there is something horrible going on over there.

He said (all paraphrased)
. China is filling requests for human organs nearly on an on-demand basis.
. They have called it 'organ harvesting'.
. Falun Gong followers are practicing what sounds like passive meditation and exercises and their numbers are growing.
. China rulers are threatened by the movement.
. They imprison Falun Gong members and many believe that the organs are coming from Falun Gong followers who have been imprisoned.

All coverage of the protest seems to have died. There are always two or more sides and an over and below the surface truth behind all of this. Therefore, I recommend hearing Zhang as a starting point for starting to establish the truth of it all before believing the smears to come, since smearing dissentors is on the rise.

I predict that her court fight will not be covered much because too many citizens might find out about this. Our creditor and business partner harvests organs?

He appeared on the Washington Journal about midway in the program this past Saturday.

1. i'm not saying the organ's issue isn't real -- but check this out.

Falun Buddha Fa

Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Switzerland

(September 4–5, 1998, Geneva)

Question: Why is homosexuality considered immoral?

Teacher: Think about it, everyone: Is homosexuality human behavior? Heaven created man and woman. What was the purpose? To procreate future generations. A man being with a man, or a woman with a woman—it doesn’t take much thought to know whether that’s right or wrong. When minor things are done incorrectly, a person is said to be wrong. When major things are done incorrectly, it’s a case of people no longer having the moral code of human beings, and then they are unworthy of being human.

Let me tell you why today’s society has become how it is. It results from there not being an upright Fa to keep human beings in check. This Dafa is taught right in the most chaotic environment, at a time when no religion can save people, and where the circumstance is that no god takes interest in people anymore. The Fa is almighty. The best time periods wouldn’t require such a great Fa to be taught. Only in the worst time periods can the power of the Fa manifest. There are other reasons, too.

Question: Why is it that homosexuals are considered bad people?

Teacher: Let me tell you, if I weren’t teaching this Fa today, gods’ first target of annihilation would be homosexuals. It’s not me who would destroy them, but gods. You know that homosexuals have found legitimacy in that homosexuality was around back in the culture of ancient Greece. Yes, there was a similar phenomenon in ancient Greek culture. And do you know why ancient Greek culture is no more? Why are the ancient Greeks gone? Because they had degenerated to that extent, and so they were destroyed.

When gods created man they prescribed standards for human behavior and living. When human beings overstep those boundaries, they are no longer called human beings, though they still assume the outer appearance of a human. So gods can’t tolerate their existence and will destroy them. Do you know why wars, epidemics, and natural and man-made disasters happen in this world? They’re precisely because human beings have karma, and those events exist to remove it. No matter how wonderful a time period may be in the future, there will still be wars, epidemics, and natural and man-made disasters on earth. They are a way of eliminating karma for people. Some people who have sinned can have their karma eliminated through the death of the flesh body and suffering, and then they’ll be free of that karma when they reincarnate. Their lives don’t really die and they reincarnate again. But the karma that some people have accrued is too much, in which case the fundamental elements of their existence will be implicated and destroyed. Homosexuals not only violate the standards that gods set for mankind, but also damage human society’s moral code. In particular, the impression it gives children will turn future societies into something demonic. That’s the issue. That kind of destruction, however, isn’t just about disappearing after they’re annihilated. That person is annihilated layer after layer at a rate that seems pretty rapid to us, but in fact it’s extremely slow in that time field. Over and over again, one is annihilated in an extremely painful way. It’s terribly frightening. A person should live in an upright manner, living honorably like a human being. He shouldn’t indulge his demon-nature and do whatever he likes.

if they are just another bunch of fundies with their own brand of hate smothered in seemingly passive bhuddist trappings -- i'm not interested and i am suspect of her accusations in that case.

although we have heard about the trade in organs from others for years.

4. I think there is a priority of issues.
First is whether they are going to charge her with a misdemeanor or felony. They are throwing the word 'harass' around - that she harassed Hu. Harassment is a felony. So there will be a debate about whether all protest is harassment. That is big.

The organ harvesting accusation is essential knowledge. For no other reason than propaganda. It looks like a war against Venezuela and Cuba is heating up. We've had two coups - Haiti and Venezuela. In the words and actions of our administration, the leaders of these countries are accused of horrible crimes, but China can do no wrong and deserves to be our financier.

The third is the question of whether Congress who oversees the budget and other relative committees will say or do anything. We know the media will work as usual for the administration.

The fourth is that we have a new trafficking problem in Iraq that Casey is supposed to clean up (after permitting it for all this time) in addition to the longer known torture and torment of prisoners, the absence of rights, the secrets and determination to punish those on the lowest rungs. The hypocrisy of democracy and decency is outrageous. How do we criticize China?

The last for me is the Falun Gong. I'm not supporting them because I know nothing about them. For all I know, perhaps all Buddhists are against homosexuality. That part goes over my head. The point for me is that being against homosexuality or same sex unions doesn't prohibit them from fighting an atrocity.

5. Also, keep in mind that there are Christians and then there are the Phelps
Falwells, Robertsons, Jones - who all interpret wildly and independently.

6. that is never far from my mind.
but i'm also aware that repukes play both sides of the bedsheet with china -- you have the bill gertz repukes ginning war propagand with china in perpetuity and you free trade freaks doing tehopposite --neither are sane.

using falun gong as another stand in fro religous persecution in china won't fly with me if this is thway they feel.

and many of the people crowing about religous persecution come from the falwell, robertson, jones camps and they dove tail ever so nicely with the repukes who constantly beat the war drums re: china.
