John Bitch (Birch) Society are absolute idiots...
I saw the President of the Bitch Society was on CSPAN yesterday (Sunday)...
speaking about Immigration...

I heard only about 8 minutes of his speech, but he was calling Mexicans invaders, and that their real goals was to destroy the USA and take back their territories... He espoused such hatred, that I was surprised CSPAN actually gave them air time. CSPAN might as well as given the Klan 90 minutes of free air time... What a nutsy organization.

Did anyone else see that crap. What does that organization really stand for?

14. "Fighting for the right to fight the right fight for the Right!"

The John Birch Society
Chad Mitchell Trio

Oh, we're meetin' at the courthouse at eight o'clock tonight
You just walk in the door and take the first turn to the right
Be careful when you get there, we hate to be bereft
But we're taking down the names of everybody turning left

Oh, we're the John Birch Society, the John Birch Society
Here to save our country from a communistic plot
Join the John Birch Society, help us fill the ranks
To get this movement started we need lots of tools and cranks

Now there's no one that we're certain the Kremlin doesn't touch
We think that Westbrook Pegler doth protest a bit too much
We only hail the hero from whom we got our name
We're not sure what he did but he's our hero just the same

Oh, we're the John Birch Society, the John Birch Society
Socialism is the ism dismalest of all
Join the John Birch Society, there's so much to do
Have you heard they're serving vodka at the WCTU?

Well you've heard about the agents that we've already named
Well MPA has agents that are flauntedly unashamed
We're after Rosie Clooney, we've gotten Pinkie Lee
And the day we get Red Skelton won't that be a victory

Oh we're the John Birch Society, the John Birch Society
Norman Vincent Peale may think he's kidding us along
But the John Birch Society knows he spilled the beans
He keeps on preaching brotherhood, but we know what he means

We'll teach you how to spot 'em in the cities or the sticks
For even Jasper Junction is just full of Bolsheviks
The CIA's subversive and so's the FCC
There's no one left but thee and we, and we're not sure of thee

Oh, we're the John Birch Society, the John Birch Society
Here to save our country from a communistic plot
Join the John Birch Society holding off the Reds
We'll use our hand and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads

Do you want Justice Warren for your Commissar?
Do you want Mrs. Krushchev in there with the DAR?
You cannot trust your neighbor or even next of kin
If mommie is a commie then you gotta turn her in

Oh, we're the John Birch Society, the John Birch Society
Fighting for the right to fight the right fight for the Right
Join the John Birch Society as we're marching on
And we'll all be glad to see you when we're meeting in the John
The John, the John Birch So- ci- i- teee

Ironically, when the Chad Mitchell trio came out with this song in 1961, many Bircher's didn't realize it was satirical, and adopted it to sing in their meetings...

24. Talkin' John Birch Paranoid Blues - Bob Dylan
http://bobdylan.com/songs/birch.html

Well, I was feelin' sad and feelin' blue,
I didn't know what in the world I was gonna do,
Them Communists they wus comin' around,
They wus in the air,
They wus on the ground.
They wouldn't gimme no peace. . .

So I run down most hurriedly
And joined up with the John Birch Society,
I got me a secret membership card
And started off a-walkin' down the road.
Yee-hoo, I'm a real John Bircher now!
Look out you Commies!

Now we all agree with Hitlers' views,
Although he killed six million Jews.
It don't matter too much that he was a Fascist,
At least you can't say he was a Communist!
That's to say like if you got a cold you take a shot of malaria.

Well, I wus lookin' everywhere for them gol-darned Reds.
I got up in the mornin' 'n' looked under my bed,
Looked in the sink, behind the door,
Looked in the glove compartment of my car.
Couldn't find 'em . . .

I wus lookin' high an' low for them Reds everywhere,
I wus lookin' in the sink an' underneath the chair.
I looked way up my chimney hole,
I even looked deep inside my toilet bowl.
They got away . . .

Well, I wus sittin' home alone an' started to sweat,
Figured they wus in my T.V. set.
Peeked behind the picture frame,
Got a shock from my feet, hittin' right up in the brain.
Them Reds caused it!
I know they did . . . them hard-core ones.

Well, I quit my job so I could work alone,
Then I changed my name to Sherlock Holmes.
Followed some clues from my detective bag
And discovered they wus red stripes on the American flag!
That ol' Betty Ross . . .

Well, I investigated all the books in the library,
Ninety percent of 'em gotta be burned away.
I investigated all the people that I knowed,
Ninety-eight percent of them gotta go.
The other two percent are fellow Birchers . . . just like me.

Now Eisenhower, he's a Russian spy,
Lincoln, Jefferson and that Roosevelt guy.
To my knowledge there's just one man
That's really a true American: George Lincoln Rockwell.
I know for a fact he hates Commies cus he picketed the movie Exodus.

Well, I fin'ly started thinkin' straight
When I run outa things to investigate.
Couldn't imagine doin' anything else,
So now I'm sittin' home investigatin' myself!
Hope I don't find out anything . . . hmm, great God!

immigration helps their businesses keep labor pay DIRT CHEAP. However, some Right Wingers don't want any more competition for jobs. I'm not up to date on their platform with regard to immigration.

I have family members of that ilk. They don't oppose abortion either - only that it should NOT be funded by the Gov't. Further, there are quite a few NORML members. Both Right and Left Wing Libertarians tend to concur that the "war on drugs" is a racket for the govt ... a useless waltz.

8. I saw one of their journals on the shelf at a BORDERS once
I think it was called "Southern Partisan," or something like that. I broused thru it out of curiosity, and it contained some of the most racist messages I'd ever seen. One article praised the KKK-founder, while another article talked about how Katrina was an opportunity to repoulate New Orleans with whites. Scary stuff. I couldn't believe Borders was carrying that crap. I noticed it was gone at my next visit, and wouldn't be a bit surprised if they received complaints.

:scared:

As I recall, way back when I was a teen, someone close to me was asked to join. It was, as I was told, only by invitation (70s). Yes, there seemed to be racial undertones but not "out front" like the KKK. They are ULTRA negative toward a centralized govt. Thank goodness this family member albeit conservative beyond belief, turned down membership in The Birch Society. Those people do drink some strong ideological kool-aid. ;)

12. The only Bircher
I've ever personally known was Cuban-American (naturalized) and a full bird in the Army. I could never understand how he couldn't see thru the racist BS, but then, he hated Mexicans and African Americans more than any other ethnicity. I once told him that it was possible that his fellow Birchers considered him to be non-white; he simply did not believe that.

29. The original conspiracy theorist - The John Birch Society
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 03:05 PM by Douglas Carpenter
Of course there have been conspiracy theorist since the beginning of time. But the John Birch Society popularized in modern times a certain brand of conspiracy theory based around the notion that in 1776 a secret group called the Illuminati met in Paris to plan world domination. This is to a large extent a regurgitation of old Freemason conspiracy theories. They hold that the world cabal of bankers lead by the Bildenberger Banking Conference, the Federal Reserve System, The Council on Foreign Relation, the Trilateral Commission and world communism are all expressions of the Illuminati.

The John Birch Society formed much of the activist nucleus of the 1964 Barry Goldwater campaign and thus the establishment of the modern right-wing of the Republican Party.

Perhaps the most famous or infamous Bircher is Phyllis Schafly:

"A Choice, Not an Echo by Phyllis Schlafly, suggested that the Republican Party was secretly controlled by elitist intellectuals dominated by members of the Bilderberger banking conference, whose policies were designed to usher in global communist conquest. "A Choice, Not an Echo" became one of Goldwater's campaign slogans.
The Gravediggers, co-authored by Schlafly and retired Rear Admiral Chester Ward of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, claimed that U.S. military strategy and tactics were actually designed to pave the way for global communist conquest."

snip:"A later John Birch Society chairman, US Representative Dr. Larry McDonald, was killed in the 1983 KAL-007 shootdown.

By the time of Welch's death in 1985, the Birch Society's membership and influence had declined, but the the UN role in the Gulf War and President Bush's call for a "New World Order" unwittingly echoed Birch claims about the goals of the internationalist One World Government conspiracy. Growing right-wing populism in the United States helped the JBS position itself for a comeback, and by 1995 its membership had grown again to more than 55,000."

38. Indeed they did say Ike was a communist

"Republican mainstream unhappiness with the Birchers intensified after Welch circulated a letter calling President Dwight D. Eisenhower a "conscious, dedicated agent of the Communist Conspiracy." Welch went further in a book titled The Politician, written in 1956 and published by the JBS in 1963, which declared that Eisenhower's brother Milton was Ike's superior within the Communist apparatus and alleging that other top government officials were also communist tools, including "ex president Truman and Roosevelt, and the last Sec. Of State John Foster Dulles and former CIA Director Allan W. Dulles." Conservative writer William F. Buckley, Jr., an early friend and admirer of Welch, regarded his accusations against Eisenhower as "paranoid and idiotic libels" and attempted unsuccessfully to purge Welch from the JBS. Welch responded by attempting to take over Young Americans for Freedom, a conservative youth organization founded with assistance from Buckley.
