1. I have a friend who I have been talking to for the last five years

He's not political but he voted repub all his life because his dad did.

Anyway, he would come and just ask questions about things like the war because in his
gut he knew something didn't add up. Anyway, at this point he talks to me about
canceling his wife's vote out and other such stuff.

2. Yes, my father and brother both saw the light

My dad after Bush #1 and my brother after Bush #2's first election. They both now vote Democratic. I don't see my brother changing as a huge deal, he seemed like a Democrat most of his life to me, but my dad changing is HUGE. He was a lifelong Republican devotee, very fond of them, very proud of what they stood for. I remember many long discussions with him while I was a teenager about politics. It was a very careful, and I'm sure he thought, lifelong, decision. He says the Republicans should be outraged over what Bush and Cheney and the rest of them are doing to the country, and to their party.

They consider themselves "independents", have small business so have voted Repub "since they are the party that helps businesses", voted Mr.bush twice. First time didn't like Kerry's looks, second time they didn't want to but felt they "had no choice during wartime". Media coverage of Katrina massively helped by showing the disconnect and lack of caring and lies. Final tipping point was recently, "did you know bush told them to leak that CIA agents name? We let a lot of what he said slide, but this was too much."

They have come to the conclusion that he has lied so much they cannot believe anything he says and he is a danger to us all and needs to be impeached and removed from office.

Yes, there is hope.

12. I think this is a big part of it, Katrina debacle was the USA

opened the eyes of many. I was very glad to hear this from them, and avoided pointing my finger and laughing, outloud anyways. They also said they "hoped that UPJr got to be, oh no, it's 35 isn't it?" me "I think so". Referring to ages that can get drafted, hoping to not start a draft or my child getting drafted.

4. The republicans in my life ...

Friends (family all yellow dog Dem's or sadly apathetic) were never thrilled with the Chimp in 2000 they voted for the Chimp because he was a repuke (no enthusiasm)and couldn't stand the thought of voting for a dem., last go around they voted for the Chimps's sorry behind because they were afraid a Dem would have instantly withdrawn the troops in Iraq ; allowing Iraq to descend into chaos ... they are NOT happy.

The Chimp's presidency did cause a big change in my former husband ... He has decided that the chimp is a lunatic and a VERY dangerous man (along with the rest of his evil cabal). I believe he voted for Kerry in the last election. This from a man that harangued me about my political beliefs our entire marriage.

5. Believe it or not, there is a small number of Freepers who

have finally woken up. They describe it this way: "All these pols want is our vote and nothing more. Bush hasn't listened to the people who voted for him and hasn't done anything for us." The straw that broke the camel's back is Bush's immigration policy. They hate it.

Dean elected after she woke up. Now she avoids politics altogether because oh how disappointing it has been.

country.. now she goes on a tirade on how we are all toast if someone doesn't do something about Bu%$ and his evil minions
