Kerry uses the L-word in reference to the bush administration
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 04:14 PM by tuvor
First time I recall seeing something other than euphemisms from the Democrats...

...drawing a parallel to the Plame case, Kerry said that with McCarthy, "you have somebody being fired from the CIA for allegedly telling the truth, and you have no one fired from the White House for revealing a CIA agent in order to support a lie. That underscores what's really wrong in Washington, D.C."

2. hmmm...I dunno... the media has me convinced I hate people who talk
in complete sentences.

It's too HARD to listen to anyone with elegant speech patterns - corporate media makes it so easy for me with little soundbites I can chew on - except I find I'm hungry again two minutes later.

4. Thank goodness that THIS media did not exist
when Paine was writting his Common Sense, huh?

People were plain then ... they were busy then (trying to survive in a brave new world) ... yet, they didn't need to have things dumbed down for them then, did they? They could still have conversations about things that were written in lofty language ... and shove out the pig pen at the same time.

Imagine if we were trying to form a government today ... you'd be seeing signs welcoming you to Brangelina, former known as Benifer.

I agree with you completely.

Heck ... I WANT my leaders to challenge me to think and ... dare I say it ... to actually be smarter than I am.

Gee, that didn't hurt so much after all.

22. Have you ever asked yourself why soundbites resonate with people?
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 06:07 PM by The Backlash Cometh
It's because even people with short-attention spans feel smarter for "getting it."

24. I understand that - it's just not partiicularly healthy for governance and
we didn't use to glorify it.

25. It's abysmal.
Though, we may have added to it. "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."

Thinking in polarized terms tends to limit your options.

8. Clinton Lied and that was Really, Really Bad.
No one died, nor was our national security placed at risk. No, Clinton just didn't do what the Bushies wanted which was to invade Iraq.

Clinton lied about an agreed affair w/an of aged adult.

Bush lies placing lives in utter danger, and its just time to move on and get over it. All if fine in the New Imperialism America.

11. Kudos to Kerry .... with some reservation
I give him a lot of credit for being BOTH a Dem and a user of the "L" word.

Now, if we get that done ... see how easy it was, other Dems? .... maybe we can get the next yakker to said it more clearly. Something like "George Bush Lied".

THAT would get a financial reward from me to their campaign coffers.

19. Not that long ago we used to refer to the "I" word
which seemed so, so outre to even think of it, let alone voice the idea. The same thing will happen with the L word. More will say it openly and Bush will eventually be branded with that label as he deserves to be as he is a LIAR.

21. He still hasnt come close to using the L word in reference to Bush, though
nor have many other Democrats either. Someone once pointed out the very few Democrats who actually had the guts to use the L word in direct reference to Bush, but I don't recall who they were. I think Boxer is one of them, but I'm not sure. Maybe Dean, too? Kudos, though, to him for using it in reference to someone in the administration.

Let me know when he calls Bush a liar. That will be big.

29. This is pretty close - only "administration" instead of "Bush"
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 11:42 PM by MH1
http://www.johnkerry.com/pressroom/speeches/spc_2006_04_22.html

But at a time when the administration cannot let go of the myths and outright lies it broadcast in the rush to war in Iraq, those who know better must speak out.

- John Kerry, April 22 2006.

Does this make you a little happier? It is CLEARLY referring to Bush - not someone in the administration but THE administration - even if it doesn't say his name.

30. That's better than the other one, yes
Now let's hope he drops the big one directly on Bush soon. I'll be the first one to stand up and cheer. He's still being too careful with his wording, which may or may not be a good thing politically, I don't know.

What I want to hear is ANY Democrat say, "George Bush LIED", or even better, "George Bush is a liar". It's not like they'd be lying or anything.

He actually used the L-word! And the world didn't end, the sky didn't fall down, and even the kool-aid drinkers didn't howl in protest. The Bush mafia's lies are NOT something they want to make an issue of right now.
