Feingold Headed to Iowa to Help Elect Democrats

Feingold Will Also Speak at the University of Iowa

Milwaukee, WI – U.S. Senator Russ Feingold announced today that he will be traveling to Iowa this week, Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th. He will hold fundraisers for 2nd Congressional District Candidate Dave Loebsack on Friday and 4th Congressional District Candidate Selden Spencer on Saturday.

Feingold will also speak on Friday at the University of Iowa, in Iowa City. The speech is open to the public. Feingold will discuss the President’s illegal domestic wiretapping program as well as his resolution to censure the President for those illegal actions. Feingold’s censure resolution is the first step toward holding the President accountable for breaking the law. Iowa Senator Tom Harkin was the first Senator to publicly support and cosponsor Feingold’s censure resolution shortly after it was introduced.

Feingold will stop by three congressional district conventions on Saturday, (the third, fourth, and fifth congressional districts) and visit with those in attendance.

1. The mainstream media currently love Sen. Clinton, but I believe

that many people in Iowa will vote in a way that may disavow the media of the notion that Sen. Clinton is the inevitable nominee.

I believe Sen. Feingold is one of several people who will finish ahead of Sen. Clinton in those caucuses.

I think Russ will finish between 1st and 5th in Iowa.

3. He was the distant third choice in the Democratic primary for his

first Senate race in Wisconsin and through a combination of smarts, hustle, and humor, beat his two better-known rivals and went on to election in the fall.

I have a feeling he is already pretty well going on the organization in Iowa. I'm not saying that Sen. Clinton is a poor organizer, only that she can't just idly presume that she won't have to fight for it same as everyone else.

6. The other 4 I have in mind

are Edwards, Vilsack (if he runs), Bayh or Clinton. I think Russ will beat Clinton. I don't think Vilsack will run. So I think he will compete with Bayh for 2nd. I think Edwards will win Iowa, though I support for Russ.

7. You may be right about Edwards there. He finished second with 32%

last time, behind Kerry's 38%. He's not to be counted out.

13. Yep. He has the brains and the sense of humor. I hope he does not

come under attack for being Jewish. That would piss me off. Romney is a Mormon over on the Republican side. I want Romney rejected for bad policies and positions compared to Feingold and all our Democrats' good policies and positions, and not because of their individual faith.

Yet the divorce and faith are going to incite the fundies to hysterical rioting.

What are they going to say, they don't like Jews???? Haven't you heard, Jews are in all the best places these day... He is not the only candidate who has been divorced either...

Hopefully people will see someone who saw through this war, and saw through the patriot act, and saw through this president.... There will always be bigots... won't there???

4. Honestly, I like how I've seen more democratic hustle

to get more democratic people elected.

The Democratic Party dropped the ball in 2004. They gave Kerry half-hearted support, and even Dean refused to acknowledge the election fraud from the election.

But thankfully, this year is different. Kerry's got a huge operation going across this country to get Dems elected. Clinton's been showing up at other peoples' fundraisers. Feingold and Kennedy and others too. They appear to have learned that a party as a whole is stronger than an individual by him or herself.

Let's hope the Democratic party learns to do this fulltime too. Especially if they gain the majority. And when they do, I have my lest of laws they need to change!

5. It is about working together

I am proud of the work that is being done by all the Democrats....

16. They've tried hard to hang tough last year

but this year you can feel the charge!

And the peoples' eyes have been opened. They know it's not just Bush. The base may be happy but you can't maintain control of the house and senate unless you deal with the people.

But I warn everyone to get on board election reform. If you can volunteer in Ohio to help with parallel elections then pm me, because I know someone who would be happy to have your help!

8. Yes. There is a more formidable energy out there right now for

our candidates.

The money is flowing too, something unheard of before 2004. The Kerry-Edwards ticket brought out a lot more checkbooks than I've seen in a national Democratic campaign ever.

I'd sure love to flip the U.S. House blue. That would be a fine, fine thing.

I figure it will take 3, maybe 4 weekends, and then we're in much better shape on the public relations front.
