Bush Explains How God Shapes His Foreign Policy...
Our President: “I Base A Lot Of My Foreign Policy Decisions On Some Things That I Think Are True... One, I Believe There's An Almighty”... (uh-oh!)

Speaking to a business group in Irvine, Ca., he admitted mistakes were made in planning for the Iraq invasion, but he defended the troop level, saying "it was the troop level necessary to do the job," and he would commit the same number if given a second chance.

The remarks came as another former general joined seven others who in recent days have called for the resignation of Pentagon chief Donald Rumsfeld, saying he had mismanaged the planning and execution of the war. Has it not dawned on anyone in this government that Bush may be mentally challendged?)

8. "Decisions" is the key word
It must have skipped your mind that he is the "decider"......"some thing" was just added on to complete the sentence. He actually meant to say "My foreign policy is based on my deciding".

17. I wouldn't mind having a president who believes God wants democracy,
if that president understood democracy.

If Saddam's palaces had been turned into public libraries, that would have been democratic. Instead, they were turned into US military bases.

If suspects were given the due process of law, that would have been democratic. Instead, they were rounded up with hoods placed over their heads, and held for however long the US military wanted.

If US troops and contractors were subject to Iraqi law, that would have been democratic. Instead, they're immune when performing official duties.

If the checkpoints were all clearly marked with Stop signs, that would be democratic. Instead, Iraqi drivers and their families are shot for not seeing a soldier waving at them and concluding they're supposed to stop.

26. I suspect the US military would rather not be holding anyone
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 09:18 PM by Oak2004
Soldiers, of all the people of this nation, may hate war the most. War means dead friends and maimed bodies and ruined lives and the erosion of the strength of the military structure they have dedicated their careers to build.

The mid and upper echelon of the U.S. military spend much of their hours, especially during peacetime, researching and analyzing every aspect of war, from grand strategy to the logistics of getting a guy in the field a dry pair of socks. I am not sure if any of it is still on the net, and I don't know where to find it anymore, but if you ever have a chance to delve into what our officers have written about asymmetric warfare and related topics (as I did a number of years ago) you would see that Cheney/Bush/Rummy's war was, from the beginning, so ghastly unlike the military consensus. The generals are giving us a glimpse of what most of the military really thinks of all this. It's Vietnam redux: yet another bad war manufactured by and micromanaged by irresponsible civilians.

The U.S. military, I'm sure, would be happy to get out of Iraq, declare the Geneva Conventions fully operational, and turn the few criminals it holds over to the appropriate legal authorities. Concentration camps like Gitmo are the wet dreams of people like Rumsfeld who, although Secretary of Defense, is not, in my eyes anyway, the U.S. military.

I trust the U.S. military. It is a magnificent defense force trained and prepared to defend American democracy from foreign enemies. It is unprepared, through no fault of its own, to defend American democracy from enemies of that democracy who have lied and cheated their way into the White House and the Pentagon (I think that this is a true constitutional crisis, and after this is over that we will need to look at how to change our laws and Constitution to prevent another crisis like this, and such a change may need to include some additional checks and balances on the use of the U.S. military). Soldiers right now are struggling with an ethical conundrum: how do you reconcile the principle of civilian control with the duty to obey the laws of war and the duty to one's comrades? There aren't any good solutions to this puzzle. If we want to support the troops, really support them, we need to take this burden from them and put it upon our civilian shoulders, where we are not burdened with such an unresolvable dilemma, and stop this war.

ok.. Im going to skim right over the whole god thing just to get right to this:

"... but he defended the troop level, saying "it was the troop level necessary to do the job," and he would commit the same number if given a second chance.

NO you fucking retard. It was NOT enough troops to get the job done, Because if it WAS... we wouldnt still fucking BE there! Would we? Asshole. Oh, and nice to fucking know that you make the SAME horrendous mistake all over again if given the chance.

For fucks sake... :banghead:
How much more of this shit are we going to have to put up with?!
