IWR Poll
Choose one:

A)...Congress voted for the war, so Bush did not violate the IWR

B)...Congress voted to use force as a last resort, so Bush violated the IWR

although there should be a 'C' option on there.

Congress, the WH, and the MSM all acted in an orchestrated effort. Without anyone of those three, it would not have been possible for to execute the illegal invasion of a soverign nation.

5. Without addressing the fact that Congress and America were
lied to to justify this war, I don't think anything else matters. If no lies were told, this would have had a very different end result.

8. Are you saying that members of Congress have no brain?
Except for 3 people, everyone else in the House and Senate voted for the 2001 resolution that Bush violated it to spy on Americans. He did steal the 2000 election.

9. I'm saying that..
... members of Congress were AFRAID of the possible political damage of going against a "popular president" in a "crisis" and look just how fucking well that worked out for them.

past behavior is indicative of future performance. To have given IWR approval without appropriate oversight and rules was enabling a known liar. A moral obligation was required that after the war started that they expose the misuse of the IWR either through congressional oversight or coming straight out and calling bush on it. That didn't happen either. Bush is responsible for the outcome but those that enabled him are also responsible. It was a morally wrong choice to vote aye.

Form the website of the White House.

March 18, 2003

Dear Mr. Speaker: (Dear Mr. President: )

Consistent with section 3(b) of the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Public Law 107-243), and based on information available to me, including that in the enclosed document, I determine that:

(1) reliance by the United States on further diplomatic and other peaceful means alone will neither (A) adequately protect the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq nor (B) likely lead to enforcement of all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq; and

(2) acting pursuant to the Constitution and Public Law 107-243 is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations, or persons who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.

Sincerely,

GEORGE W. BUSH

The above contains at least two false statements.
  • Iraq was not a threat and further diplomatic and peaceful means would have cast further doubt that Saddam possessed any weapons of mass destruction, let alone the possessed a biochemical arsenal of the size that the regime had been claiming for months.
  • Iraq had no working relationship with with al Qaida;
This document is evidence that Mr. Bush deliberately lied in order to persuade the public that war in Iraq was necessary and should be used as an exhibit in impeachment proceedings.

He broke is promise to follow the conditions of that resolution. And the rubber-stamp repubs let him get away with it.
