Bush is the new Truman?

"The majority is wrong about Bush
The Charleston Gazette ^ | 4-16-06 | Don Surber

*snip*

Now George W. Bush is too nice to say this, but maybe the problem is with the American people. We are a nation of ingrates.

*snip*

Increasing the child tax credit to $1,000 and ending the marriage penalty helped drop taxes by an average of $1,083 in 2003 for the nation’s 92 million taxpayers.

And people saw the results in other ways. The unemployment rate shrank from 6.3 percent in 2003 to 5.1 percent in 2005 to 4.7 percent last month.

That is pretty good considering that the attacks of Sept. 11th knocked the stock market out for nearly a week and that oil prices rose to $70 a barrel.

*snip*

Much to my surprise, the convoluted Medicare prescription plan seems to be working. A survey showed three-quarters of those who signed up say they are saving money.

or was it Lincolnesque?

President Bush bet his presidency on Iraq. Like Harry Truman before him, Bush had no choice. States that sponsor terrorism must be brought in line.

So when do we invade Saudi Arabia?

I hope that more Bush supporters are vocal about blaming everything on the American people, and insulting them for not backing fearless leader.

8. Horseshit on the Medicare plan.
My mom is disabled and living in a nursing home. Her new "coverage" contains the seldom mentioned dough nut hole and she (or my father) will be shelling out more money on her prescriptions before the year ends. Stick it to the sick, elderly and poor ya monkey faced rat bastard.

9. Right. So widows with grown children pay through the nose.
What a great tax cut. Pander to the married with children church folk and shower the millionaires with huge bonuses, that's the New Republican Way.

11. Oh, ferkrissakes, that "aveage" of $1083 represents
tens of thousands of dollars for the plutocrats averaged in with a tax hike for Joe Schmo via the AMT.

Perfect way to lie with statistics. Of course, now Joe is wondering why he didn't get a $1083 tax cut and why his taxes went UP instead.

I'd say Joe is putting his gratitude where it belongs, and it doesn't belong with a political party that has lied to him about everything for the past 5 years.

Also, I'd like to know who those 3/4 of signees are saving money, what planet they hail from. Every senior I know saw the prices of drugs get hiked way up and are paying more now than they did before.

What a steaming pile this article is. Ingrates? Nah, just people who finally WOKE UP.

12. Google "Don Surber"
You find out he's nothing but a blogger, really.

He is, however, a fantasy investor (oy!): http://blogshares.com/user.php?id=28575

There's absolutely nothing to indicate any professional data about him. Maybe I just didn't try hard enough. He's just some guy with a keyboard and really stupid opinions, so far as I can tell.

Charleston, West Virginia? Yeah, there's a really central location from which to assess what Fuckface has done to our country, our lives, our children's and grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's lives, and our own personal futures.

This mouthbreather, who has a way of not understanding facts, is the perfect example of why brothers and sisters should never marry and have children. I'm imagine Mother's Day and Father's Day are both complicated holidays for Don Surber, who, as my late father would have said, "has eleven, but he needs twelve."

13. $1083
Does not come close to covering the interest on the increase in the national debt that Bush has delivered.

How can my account be empty? I still have checks in my book! No doubt this poor man is looking for a job in the Bush Admin. Secretary of the Treasury perhaps?

14. Truman's people ought to sue for slander
To compare chimpie to Harry Truman is slander, pure and simple. Harry Truman was a self taught man. As a young man, he didn't have the money to attend college. Contrast that to chimpie, whose daddy paved the road for him, every inch, every mile.
In his entire life, chimpie has done nothing on his own. Even now, we see more of it. The LA Times has an editorial saying the VP has to go, implying that even now, chimpie doesn't make his own decisions.

15. And Iraq has been a gleaming triumph as well.
However I do worry that our troops may sustain eye injuries with all those flowers being thrown at them as they liberate town after town.

Wow. I hope they are able to find Mr. Surber who wrote that piece in the GAZETTE and sufficiently tranquilize him for safe transport to an asylum.

16. I'm sorry, but the headline makes me retch. My e-mail to donsurber@dailyma
to donsurber@dailymail.com:

Shrub is no TRUMAN. The lapdog media has attempted to legitimize Shrub since Campaign 2000. You are not the first to dredge up historical personages to compare him favorably to, and not the first to use Harry TRUMAN's name in this defamatory (to TRUMAN) way. Chris MATTHEWS has been doing that for 5 years, and throwing in CHURCHILL for good measure. As Supreme Court Goodfella Nino SCALIA says, "Get a life!"

17. Most Seniors Enrolled Say Drug Benefit Saves Money
Most Seniors Enrolled Say Drug Benefit Saves Money

By Jeffrey H. Birnbaum and Claudia Deane
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, April 12, 2006; Page A01

Millions of senior citizens have not signed up for and do not know much about Medicare's new prescription drug benefit, but among those who have enrolled, three-quarters said the paperwork was easy to complete and nearly two-thirds said the program saved them money, the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll shows.

The findings underscore the challenge the administration faces in persuading large numbers of seniors to participate in and support the program, the largest expansion of a government social benefit in decades. But it also unmasks a political opportunity among older voters for President Bush and the Republicans if they succeed.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/11/AR2006041101685.html

I'm just trying to be fair, and am looking for fact checkers.
