Consumers shrugged off higher gasoline prices in April and sent a widely watched barometer of consumer confidence to its highest level in almost four years, a private research group said Tuesday.

But the New York-based Conference Board warned that if fuel prices continue to rise, it would cast a pall on consumer spending, which accounts for two-thirds of all U.S. economic activity.

I read a speech by their president, DiPiazza, and he is a typical repuke free trade freak. I wouldn't put it past them to rig the poll to suit their needs.

This has to be bogus. There's never before been an occasion when people don't express a lack of confidence over rising gas prices. It's a correlation that's been demonstrated over and over again.

By now I expect this administration just cooks every book available to it.
