How could this possibly be: "Consumer confidence higest in 4 years"?
APR. 25 11:26 A.M. ET Consumers shrugged off higher gasoline prices in April and sent a widely watched barometer of consumer confidence to its highest level in almost four years, a private research group said Tuesday.

But the New York-based Conference Board warned that if fuel prices continue to rise, it would cast a pall on consumer spending, which accounts for two-thirds of all U.S. economic activity.

The Conference Board said that its consumer confidence index rose to 109.6, up from a revised 107.5 in March. April's reading was the highest since the index touched 110.3 in May 2002. Analysts had expected a reading of 106.4.

2. It's a self-fulfilling report. If they were honest, it would get worse.
They hope this will make consumers more confident. It will for some, but most Americans are getting hit or will be soon. It shouldn't take long for them to be discredited.

3. ABC/Washington Post poll shows consumer confidence at
-7 on a scale of -100 to +100. Has been as low as -25, so -7 is up, just not positive. It's all in the spin . . .

11. Among other things....
The survey closed in mid-April (it measures only the first half of the month)....

It's also worth noting that this "high water mark" is about 30 points LOWER than it was during the Clinton years.

Here's the full release....

12. I don't believe anything this adminisrtation reports/claims - they've lied
distorted, deceived in so many ways, from the war to medicare drug plan and everything in between, sad to say but the Bush administration has clearly shown that they lie and manipulate for personal gain and advantage...The USA just isn't what it used to be.
