Interesting and relevant statement by Jimmy Carter during Regan debates
"MR. CARTER: I think this debate on Social Security, Medicare, national health insurance typifies, as vividly any other subject tonight, the basic historical differences between the Democratic Party and Republican Party. The allusions to basic changes in the minimum wage is another, and the deleterious comments that Governor Reagan has made about unemployment compensation. These commitments that the Democratic Party has historically made to the working families of this nation have been extremely important to the growth in their stature and in a better quality of life for them. I noticed recently that Governor Reagan frequently quotes Democratic presidents in his acceptance address. I have never heard a candidate for President, who is a Republican, quote a Republican president, but when they get in office, they try to govern like Republicans. So, it is good fo the American people to remember that there is a sharp basic historical difference between Governor Reagan and me on these crucial issues - also, between the two parties that we represent."

How can we make Americans remember these stark differences?

1. We should have listened to President Carter. He tried to tell us
about Reagan, about energy conservation, about the environment and about world peace but the idiotic, American morans just had to vote for faux, uber-patriot Ronnie Raygun.
:(

3. wouldn't you love to see the confused expression
on Raygun's face while Carter spoke? I remember the debates, but not the details. I've met President Carter and he is a brillant yet down-to-earth man who deeply cares about his fellow man and woman.

Hence, he's the only President who cares so little about his Presidential Library (and devotes his energy to the Carter Center where real work is being carried out on behalf of our global community

4. I do remember Rayguns reaction to everything Carter said during the
debates, Raygun would chuckle and say "well there they go again" then lunch off how how he was like JFK or FDR in his approach to fixing national issues and the crowds would cheer him on. After everyone would say how Raygun won the debate hands down, Yet all I remember was Raygun never said a thing about the questions, it was always comparing himself to Dems. The great communicator was so good at not conmunicating that the chuckle nuts out there put their own ideals into what Raygun was saying, then he'd come back and say "I didn't say that" then launch into saying the same exact thing only using different words and the people would cheer him on some more. It wasn't about what Raygun said but the way he said it that got idiots into believing what he said was true.

12. How right you are. Rayguns never said anything of substance
I always say that Rayguns speeches were all "Rah Rah Sis Coom Bah", and then the news pundits would proclaim what a great speaker he was and how people loved his speeches. I used to yell at the TV, "He didn't say anything!" "He's an actor for Christsakes, OF COURSE he know how to deliver a speech!" It used to drive me nuts how people loved a guy who never said a damn thing and called him the "Great Communicator". I don't know, maybe they are right, maybe for a bunch of dumb assholes, Raygun was the "Great Communicator", after all, he spoke their language.

5. When Democrats debate Republicans, the media always favors GOP spin.
They start out behind in every debate because of it.

You will see throughout that almost everything that a Democrat has said at those times rings true afterwards, while almost everything said by the Republican becomes a demonstrable lie.

But the corporate media eats their crap up with a spoon and asks for seconds.
