Daily Kos bashes the League of Conservation Voters
Edited on Tue Apr-25-06 01:36 PM by montana500
www.wilderness-sportsman.com ( April 25 )

"While the site administrators of Kos have a well intentioned and a reasonable point about control of the Senate, the unwarranted bashing of a long standing high quality conservation outfit such as the LCV was uncalled for. Hopefully in the future the Daily Kos will mention a conservation group in a good light, rather than only mentioning them to bash them."

1. I can see why Kos did so. They should be ashamed to...
endorse Chaffee. He supports the repug "leadership" who interns takes pride in gang raping the environment.

Shame of the LOC and Sierra Club. They should endorse Carl Sheeler, the Democrat for Senate.

27. Well maybe if they're giving the nod for contortionism
How does anyone manage to be recognized by the Chamber of Commerce (Big Business) and Sierra Club at the same time? Then he has received the backing of labor and NARAL, but he did a two-step on Alito. It's really impressive....

2. I agree with the bashing

RI Senator Chafee despite only having a 20% positive rating on conservation issues. They think it's good to have a Senator in the Republican party who represents a more moderate position than most Republicans. I say, why not have a Democratic Senator from RI who will vote Green closer to 100% of the time?

6. It is when those court and cabinet appointees are the ones....
overturning every environmental law known to man. These are the enablers of Bush's push to appease his Corporate overlords. Perhaps Chaffee's record is good on a local level but if the Federal level laws are decimated it makes those local laws moot. Chaffee is putting on a good show of environmental conscience locally but turning right around and negating it on a higher level.

4. They bashed them for endorsing Chafee for the RI Senate.
Edited on Tue Apr-25-06 01:41 PM by Pirate Smile
I agree.

Keeping a Republican controlled Senate is a disaster for the environment. What about that don't they get?

5. Daily Kos makes a habit of only mentioning conservation groups...
...to trash them. Yesterday, one of the site admins referred to LCV and Sierra Club supporters as "freaks". Daily Kos feels it needs to be a watchdog concerning others actions(and rightfully so), and this time Daily Kos needed the babysitter.

20. His site performs a good service, and often he has something good to say
sadly, this was not one of those times.

I've seen him do this before. He had something to say about hippy dippy war protesters and feminists who didn't like an ad he'd put on the site. He'll say something rude and thoughtless, then write a followup that only digs the hole deeper.

He can be quite the assclown on occasion.

7. LCV is a non-partisan organization.
Every now and then they have to endorse a republican. It sucks but it is reality.

12. It really sucks if they give the impression that both parties are
equally interested in conservation and a person voting for Republicans won't damage conservation efforts.

It is like NARAL endorsing Chafee.

9. Do you support calling the LCV "losers"?
I'm not sure that's the kind of language I would use to describe such a helpful and highly regarded conservation outfit.

11. So one move classfies them as "useless losers"?
The truth is, we don't control any aspect of government. It can't hurt to have a guy on your siude on these issues when you control absolutely nothing.

Besides that point, it seems the Daily Kos only mentions conservation groups for the purpose of ripping them a new one. It's become tiresome.

13. What sense does it make for conservationalists to back repukes?
Is the reelection of another repuke going to tip the balance to a more environmental friendly federal government? Have these people been in a cave for last 20 years?

I can just see the headlines now: "World is saved from too much global warming by the Lincoln Chaffee lead Republican dominated US Senate."

I think the League of Conservation Voters AND the Sierra Club have spent too much time inside the beltway. Their brains are warped.

And for people to bash Kos for speaking him mind is just silly and it makes me question thier motivation.

Divide and Conquer and all.

18. Yes, why bother to influence support from people who actually have power?
Until the dems actually win a few elections, it can't hurt to have someone voting our way on issues such as these.

14. You know what's truly tiresome?
The sweeping the sweeping generalizations you use (without citing examples to back them up) to bash one of the best progressive resources on the Internet.

17. That's an interesting double standard....
..the only time he mentions a conservation group on his site is to rip them a new one. The LCV has been a more important outfit than Daily Kos ever will be. He owes them an apology.

Daily Kos gets more attention and traffic than LCV has in years.

19. He also doesn't like hippy dippies and feminists
which makes his distaste for Kerry more palatable for me, since he appears to occasionally have his head up his butt. Sadly, he also appears to enjoy the view.

It's a flaw in LCV's ratings system. They should correct it and move on.

and I have donated for many years in the past. This year I have decided not too, they try too hard to be bipartisan and give $$$ to members of both parties. I can't have that, there simply is NO such thing as a moderate rethug and I don't want a penny to go to ANY fake "environmentalist" if they have that R next to their name. When the chips are down they ALWAYS vote in lockstep for the extreme right agenda.
