For Some Reason They Don't Show This In Civ Class Anymore
Despotism

This short, which runs about ten minutes, should be shown in classes across the country TODAY.

Take special note of the sections on income distribution and information control.

Leave a note of appreciation to King Of Zembla for finding this gem

2. Too true
I remember when I got out of the service and went back to school there was this 19-20 year old girl that didn't know that each state had two senators or what were the three branches of government. I didn't bash her, since it was the fault of her teachers. The still remember the feeling of sadness from that day.

3. Interesting though you forget this was pulled mainly because it was BS
you forgot that during the era this film was made america still had Jim Crow laws and seperate but equal going on in it. We were not very democratic to certain people when this film was made and it was pulled from civics for that reason.

5. I think the makers of the film were sneaking that in
Did you watch it? I picked up on some subtle commentary that they probably weren't allowed to be explicit about.

8. Thats another reason it was pulled, it was making americans wonder how
they could call it democracy, when certain members of their citizens were not allowed to vote or have a say in government. Let alone eat at restaurants and drink from water fountains or ride on the bus anyplace they felt like riding. Never forget one news clip of the 60's where a pregnant afro-american had to give up her seat on the bus for a 16 yo white kid.
