It's possible you'll be asked why your postings have caused such a "vitriolic response" from (brownshirted, jackbooted, astroturfing) conservatives?

IMHO, the reason is because you have caused those respondents to face up to their own cognitive dissonance.
"An example of cognitive dissonance is the phenomenon known as buyer's remorse, in which a consumer becomes conflicted, after the fact, with the issue of whether or not their decision to make a purchase was, indeed, a wise one."

You have forced them to face the consequences of their actions. In "the back of their minds", these hate mailers are wrestling with their feelings of cognitive dissonance. They realize that you are right, and that the consequences of their actions have been tragic. Their reaction to lash out at you, the messenger, is understandable, but unfortunate.

You're quite right--peace does take courage, and a lot of other things. Your respondents know it, and they resent you for reminding them that decisions they have made against the cause of peace have contributed to terrible human suffering.

It takes courage to admit you're wrong.
Those that send you hate mail can't admit that they were wrong, and you are right.
They don't have the courage.

Continue to show the world that you DO have the courage it takes to stand for peace.
