It's a scam: High gas prices

I'm shocked - SHOCKED I TELL YOU! - that George Bush still pretends to care about the American people. Let's face it, folks, we've been taken for a ride the past six years. So where is this new, caring, concerned man coming from? What has changed that would cause us to expect anything different from him now?

It's not the poll numbers. Dubya don't care 'bout no dang poll numbers. He's said so himself. Of course, almost everything out of the man's mouth is either vomit or a lie, so there's still good reason to not believe him now.

But what could the motivation be? We know Dubya hates giving speeches. He knows he mispronounces words. So why would he suddenly, after years of higher and higher gas prices, actually do something to bring relief to the American people, who he detests so much?

Follow the money. He's gonna look into price gouging and fixing by the big oil companies. Uh-huh, yeah, right. There aren't any pigs flying overhead, so I'm gonna add this one to the bullshit list. He's gonna stop adding to the national oil reserves, which will make more oil available in the market and bring prices down. Ummm...not on your life. Not enough there to even cause a blip on the ole gas pump prices.

So what is this big motivation?

Could it be that by lifting pollution standards the big oil companies can rake in even MORE profits?

BINGO!

Could it be that this is a way of pressuring Congress and opponents to allow more drilling in Alaska?

BINGO AGAIN!

To believe that this is anything other than just another opportunity to screw America while helping Dubya's good ole boys club members is foolish.

Refineries in CO have been paying oil producers in WY, MT, and ND about half the rate OPEC is getting for crude. Gee, local oil and they are offering so little for it people are turning their pumps OFF?!?!

The refineries have all the oil they can handle right now. Reason? They haven't built new refineries in a couple decades. Why? They don't wanna spend the $$ to build them to comply with environmental regs.

They do not want ANY regulations, rules, laws, responsibilities. And they will starve America to force us to remove the rules. They will also blame brown people in far away places for the costs...

All part of the plan.

11. Big Oil also wants to keep a high demand and limited supply

By only having so many refineries to produce the finished product. Knight Ridder did a story on it awhile back, and showed how they had closed down refineries across the country to limit capacity. Some employees and a community even wanted to purchase one of the refineries to keep the jobs, but the Oil Company rejected the offer, because their long term plans needed it closed and dismantled forever.

We have arrived to the point where everything the Federal Government & Corporate America, Inc. says is suspect, and against the best interests of 'We The People' and the good of the country.

We are all owned by the Corporate Government Store, which amounts to the Company Store on steroids and a national scale. Only the Wealthy Elite are entitled to life, liberty, and happiness, and the rest of us only get to rent our lives. The more money you have to spend, the better accommodations you can arrange for your life.

The oil companies are holding Americans hostage. They're jacking up prices as an excuse to hold the government over a barrel so as to force Congress to give the oil barons a license to pollute.

Notice how the wingnuts blame the environmentalists for passing laws that force them to clean up after themselves so we don't have to breathe their toxic fumes instead of God's air. The oil companies are not only using global demand, but also they're using emission control laws as a pretext for charging exorbitant prices at the pump.
