Stephen Harper IS George W. Bush
Edited on Tue Apr-25-06 10:01 PM by journalist3072
Seems like Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has taken a page from the Bushies.

On Tuesday, the conservative Canadian government barred media outlets from covering the flag-drapped coffins of four Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

They have also ceased the practice of lowering flags to half-staff outside Canadian Parliment each time a soldier is killed.

Just remember folks, in the minds of people like George Bush and Stephen Harper, if you didn't see it, then obviously it didn't happen.

1. I remember reading an article about Harper before the election -
he is a big fan of Bush; wanted to be his buddy if he won office. :eyes:

Harper is so out of touch with Canadians he thinks being like bush will win him favours, roflmao!

Here is an article from 2004 on how Canadians feel about bush and I can assure you they like him even less today!

Canadians to Bush: Hope You Lose, Eh

According to a new poll, only 15 per cent of us would vote for the President

6. We will be back at the polls before Christmas, imo
Canadians voted less for the faux Cons and more against the Liberals as a protest against their arrogance, it was a wake-up, smarten-up kind of vote, imo.

Canadians didn't trust Harper and the faux Cons which is why they only have a minority government, a very vulnerable position. Harper is politically tone deaf which benefits those who oppose him and hurts his party. Depending on whom the Liberals choose as their next leader, a non-Martin, non-Chretien partisan hopefully, Harper should be down the tubes.

8. Another no-confidence vote coming soon, perhaps?
I've always been intrigued by these "no confidence" votes. In a way, I wish we had them here in the States.

But then, on the flip side, I also wonder whether changing governments at the drop of a dime might create some instability.

12. The faux Cons have to bring down a budget soon and a budget
bill can end in a non-confidence vote. It will be very interesting to see what they put forward in their budget given Harper's complete lack of understanding of Canadians. I suspect they will give Quebec goodies to keep the Bloc on-side so they can stay in power, we shall see.

13. Is a budget bill...
The only thing that can trigger a no-confidence vote, or can basically anything (like lying your way into a war--wonder where I got that from?) trigger a no-confidence vote?

15. Not every vote can end in a non-confidence vote, budget bills often
are, actual motions of non-confidence can be put forward but sometimes it is less than crystal clear as to when the defeat of a government bill constitutes a non-confidence vote.

16. How anxious do you think the Liberals will be to pull the trigger
this soon?

Do they really want to go to the polls with an interim party leader and a depleted war chest?

7. Oh yes....subtly at first. . .slowly.. . .
just enough that most people won't notice their wingnut changes. . .and then slowly but surely, as soon as they can increase their seats in the next election. . .kaboom! The Harper term will be identical to the Bush travesty.
