Majority in Army Times poll think Rumsfeld should resign
Majority in Army Times poll think Rumsfeld should resign

RAW STORY
Published: Tuesday April 25, 2006

According to a poll at ArmyTimes.com, a majority of respondents believe that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld should resign, RAW STORY has found.

At the time of this writing, 2985 readers have voted in the latest Army Times poll (link), with 1,889 (63.28%) agreeing that the "U.S. war effort is grounds for Secretary Rumsfeld to resign."

996 (33.37%) voted no and 100 (3.35%) had no opinion.

In a poll taken shortly after reports of prison abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison came out in 2004, a plurality of readers agreed that Rumsfeld and Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Gen. Richard Myers shouldn't keep their jobs "in light of the allegations." At the time, 3,644 (44.58%) thought they both should go, 3,644 (41.07%) said they should stay, and 739 responded that just Rumsfeld should go (9.04%).

1. Army Times - more liberal media
Edited on Wed Apr-26-06 09:56 AM by NewJeffCT
That Army is just full of gay, radical, pinko, tree-hugging, drug using, latte sipping commie-symps

Edited to add :sarcasm: in case somebody missed it.

2. I'd still like accurate numbers of how the military voted in 04;
we heard the majority voted repug, but I never did see any proof positive. Hmmm...

6. As I said at the time
If they had exit polling that showed Iraq-based troop support for Bush, they would've posted it from sea to shining sea.

I gotta think they did the polling, it sucked, and went into the shredder.

3. reality check time...
"(Note: There is no way of knowing how many voters in Army Times polls are active or retired U.S. military personnel, since all visitors to the Website are able to register a vote.)"

Get real, Rawstory--this is an internet poll, emminently Freepable as well as being DU'd.

9. Sure it is, but see my post below
You don't miss the TIMES when it comes out, especially in military offices that have a subscription, so you can see the "good" stories (usually involving a scandal or a relief for cause) that the regular folk just cruising through can't see. Certainly, not all of those votes are ACDU, and it is a good bet that almost NONE of them are from people who are deployed, but I'm betting more than a few are from military people sitting at their desks in their comfy chairs in air conditioned offices.

It's a popular site to check when sitting around pushing bullshit paper, waiting for your 12 hour day of 'hurry up and wait' to end.

4. Why won't our troops support our troops?
We are at war and the troops should be fully supporting the incompetence of Rumsfeld. To do less than that would undermine the moral of our troops. What could our troops be thinking? Our troops need our troops. Geez.

8. Holy shit...ya know who votes in those polls???
Guys who sit around on their asses in air conditioned offices at the HQ level. They are limited in where they can surf, and the TIMES site is quite popular amongst all branches of service. This poll is being carried on the USAF, USN, USMC versions as well.

This is not coming from the guys in the field, who are just trying to stay alive and fend off increasing heat as the desert warms up, this is the bastards with the COMFORTABLE jobs, and the retirees who still like to keep a hand in!
