Question on gas taxes
Are gas taxes levied on a per gallon basis or a per dollar basis? I have been listening to RWers say the government is gouging a heck of alot more than oil companies by charging gas taxes.

7. Well, if that's true
and I was thinking that too, then they have NO argument for government price gouging (except possibly in Arizona like the below poster says). Rush is calling for investigating the government to see what they are doing with all the extra revenue! What a dumbass

3. Both
In Arizona we pay the state and fed tax per gallon, and then a sales tax on the total dollar amount (including the state and fed tax!!)

would come from where?

Fed gas tax is $0.18/gal for gas, $0.245/gal for diesel.

Most (all?) states levy on a per gallon basis.

Gas tax revenues are actually decreasing (which tells me some demand destruction is taking place). Iowa had to cut $45 M in projects recently due to increased construction costs and decreased revenue.
