I do think we did this same stuff under the worry about the Reds. THat started back in the early 1900's and we built that into a cold war that lasted for years. All the time building up the military. Ike had something going on that. If most of our money is going to go to pay off debt, interest on that debt and military one just has to have this all seeing evil to fight.It must seem beyond ben Larden's wildest dreams that about 10,000 of his men can bring a country like ours to its knees. He must think he has died and gone to heaven. At least with the Reds we saw the worlds largest army looking at us from the other side of the Elba.
