Did the WH hired Snow to change the subject?
There's just so much trash that's being dug up on him -and that's good!- A wingnut shouldn't be able to waltz quietly into the WH. The cable bunnies' squeals about his "professionalism" need to be countered. The last couple of reports I saw didn't even mention his Fox employment, which you'd think would have been enough to marginalize him all on their own.

Still, this wealth of available dirt is making me apprehensive.

Look how deep it goes. from Wonkette-

Birds of a Feather: Tony Snow, Linda Tripp, Lucianne Goldberg

Tony Snow, by accepting the position of White House press secretary, is entering the pages of history. But he has been there before — at least in the footnotes — thanks to the company he keeps.

Here’s an excerpt from an FBI investigative report from L’Affaire Lewinsky (remember that?):

(Lucianne) GOLDBERG advised that in the Summer of 1996, she was introduced to LINDA TRIPP. GOLDBERG and TRIPP share TONY SNOW as a mutual friend. SNOW contacted GOLDBERG and said he had a friend interested in doing a book. TRIPP talked with GOLDBERG and explained she was interested in writing a book on her experiences working in the BUSH and CLINTON White Houses. GOLDBERG and TRIPP arranged a meeting sometime later in the Summer of 1996.

Are they playing us in a "look over here....shiney!" kind of way? Did they just screw up? Or will none of his wingnuttiness matter to the WH press corp?

1. Wingnuttiness is overlooked, as long as it is right-wingnuttiness.
He'll get a pass, anything else will probably bring out the "politics of personal destruction" chorus.

2. Snow IS the diversion
And another bright shining example of Bush's poor judgement.

3. No, it's just that the first thousand candidates didn't return their calls
Seriously, just how stupid would you have to be
to actually JOIN the B*sh team in April of 2006?

No way in hell SnowJob was their first choice-
they took what they could get, which wasn't much.
