The Onion: Bush Calls Cabinet Meeting To Get Story Straight

It's interesting to place yourself in the position of a satirist trying to exaggerate the excesses of this nightmare administration. Was this Onion brief successful satire? It's well written, but didn't seem like much of a stretch to me. I can easily envision virtually all of this taking place at a BushCo "get our story straight" Cabinet meeting.

Warning: 20 second obstruction popup---sorry about that.

1. A sad but true observation.
The only thing I wonder about is, beyond the inner sanctum--Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Rove--does B*sh openly command his administration members to lie for him? Or does he use other, perhaps more "J. Edgar Hooverian," methods to keep them in line? We know that those who have gone off the reservation have been relentlessly smeared and marginalized but does B*sh go so far as to maintain incriminating files on his people?

2. I'd be very surprised if Karl...
...doesn't have detailed files on all of them, friend and foe.

3. Taking seriously, as he does, the Bush Doctrine of Pre-emption...
...you're undoubtedly correct.

5. That was great, but I personally prefer...
an oldie but goodie from the archives.
Clinton Calls For National Week Off To Get National Shit Together

"I am certain," Clinton told the American people during the radio address, "that you, too, have a great deal of shit piling up. Now more than ever, we, as a nation and a people, need this time off to finally deal with all the shit we've let slide."
Clinton said that as a two-term president, he has an unusually large amount of shit to deal with. "I've still got shit from '93 I haven't even touched yet."

It's hard to beat the Onion.

6. Funny.
If approved, the week off, scheduled for Oct. 7-13, would give Clinton, as well as the American people, a chance to finally take care of all their shit.

I preferred yours as well. That's a keeper.
