Repub apologist reactions to shrub speech on gasoline crunch:

I just went and revisited an old hobby related board I used to post on. Read a thread where some of the most consistent apologists for the right wing posted about watching the shrub's speech on energy policy.

The uniform reaction among these people was that it was a hollow, lip service performance, that shrub's communication skills were bad, and that his nonverbal communication (body language, expression etc.) betrayed the terrible shape he and his administration were in, and despite all this, he is essentially covering for his oil business cronies, allowing them to gouge us up to some arbitrary point (say, 3.50/gal ish) and then lowering it back down to 2.60 or so to "save the day".

I suspect most of these people will STILL push the button for whoever the Repubs put on a plate in front of them, because of swiftboating or flipflopping or Hilary hate or whatever the smear du jour will be, but maybe there will be some staying home or defections.

staying home is more likely. But of course, high voter turn out usually drops in the Dems favor so I'm probably wrong...I'm more than likely wrong...I'm wrong. Nevermind.

4. But here's what upsets me the most

They keep writing off Democrats.

When Bush sells them out (because, face it, conservatism is a lie) they don't actually stop and rethink their beliefs. They just say that he is being too liberal.

Its bullshit.

Nothing about anything Bush is doing is liberal, not at all.

But they refuse to recognize this, and so there is always something to blame.

5. Jr's month long Irag speeches did not bring his polls up--Maybe they

will hide him for a while?

6. Did he even ever follow through and deliver all the Iraq speeches that

were announced?

I remember the first time he was supposed to give a whole series of speeches about Iraq, the first couple went over so badly (same old B.S. that nobody believes anymore) they just quit doing them and shut up about it.

What about this current campaign?

Let the price of gas climb all summer then call in some markers (big fuckin´ markers) from your oil buddies for a sharp drop in prices before the mid-terms.
