1. Wyden left the floor defeated. He did not get an up/down vote.

2. You're kidding me. Why did he leave the floor? I thought he said
he was prepared to stay all night or however long it took until he got his amendment up for a vote? :wtf:

What happened to make him leave? Did the other Dems not support the filibuster?

4. I forget the fat turd who assaulted him.
It might have been the Senator from New Mexico, but don't quote me on that. The guy was furious. He said Whyden's bill was worthless. I guess they guy owns petroleum stocks.

The weird thing was the show on LinkTV just after that. It was on farmers who graze BLM land, and who've lost everything to the toxic sludge of the oil well pollution. It even showed an arial view of the vast area where roads were build all over the countryside, to get to the oil wells that were peppered everywhere. And they said that was going to double in a year or two. That was the first time when I realized that I need not bother worrying about trying to make a difference anymore. It's over. We're done. Even if we stopped it all today, we've ruined the planet. The breeders and their consumption won the battle.

6. Yes, that was Pete Dominici from NM.
Both he and Ted Stevens from Alaska said they would allow a vote if a second-degree amendment were allowed on Wyden's amendment. The second-degree amendment would allow drilling in ANWAR. The Presiding Officer ruled that a second-degree amendment would be allowed. Wyden had no choice but to stop talking, because even if he collapsed, the Pukes wouldn't have allowed a vote.

5. Here's my post from yesterday
in another thread in GD-Politics:

33. Here's Harry Reid. I think you've
established that you will not get a vote on this amendment. Many disappointed Americans.

Does the Senator have any idea how much longer he will be talking.

Wyden: I would stay here all night, until they literally had to take me off the floor because I couldn't talk any longer, to save the taxpayer's money. I would stay here as long as it took if I thought the other side would let me have an up or down vote. The Senate is not going to operate the way it customarily does ... I want to protect the middle-class taxpayer ... it's clear that they aren't going to allow a vote.

Reid wants Wyden to wrap up in 3 minutes, and then go into a quorum call, and then Senator Cochrane have the floor.

Wyden says ... I wish that today we could have done right by all those middle-class folks. I'm going to be back making this fight again and again, the people of Oregon willing. I do not withdraw my amendment, but I yield the floor at this time.

Quorum call.
