Authorities said the two dragged the boy from a house party Saturday and into the yard, where they sodomized him with a plastic pipe from a patio table umbrella and poured bleach on him. Trent on Friday described the pipe as being sharpened at one end and said Tuck stomped on the boy with steel-toe boots and kicked the pipe into him.

At one point, the teens tried to carve something on the boy's chest with a knife, he told CNN Friday.

"I don't know that the very beginning of the attack was racial," Trent said, "but there's no question that they were venting quite a bit of hatred in their hearts."

Trent said Friday that doctors had also told investigators they suspected some kind of toxicity in his internal organs that may have been caused by foreign substance, "which makes me wonder if they didn't pour bleach down the pipe as well."

"Everybody has heard about David (Tuck)," David Cook said. "Everybody knows him as a skinhead around here."

Cook said he has seen Nazi swastikas painted on the fence at Tuck's house. "It sounds like something you would see in a movie, but it's all real," he said.

Several people who live in Tuck's subdivision portrayed Tuck as a boy who had been violent and troubled since he was young and had long exhibited a fascination with neo-Nazis.

Jason Savage, 17, and Tommy Peterson, both Klein Collins sophomores, said Tuck paraded around the subdivision with a flag of a swastika on Martin Luther King Day.

12. I saw the prosecutor on TV last night saying that this IS a hate crime BUT

the fascist trashbags are already being tried on the top count possible. The hate crimes law enhancement cannot make the charge go any higher. I guess if the kid dies then they are in some trouble.

10. I don't think hate crimes laws do any good in these kind of cases

If you have a bunch of serious charges, it's just prosecutorial overkill. Especially in murder cases-if the perp is facing the max in the state for murder one, which is inevitably either death or life without parole, than I don't see where adding another charge serves any purpose. These guys will get charged with CSC, assualt with intent to do great bodily harm, and face sentences of at least 20 years to life. Who needs the extra 5 years and all the dead trees to make the unnecessary paperwork.

If it's hate graffiti painted on someone's home or property, and the underlying charges don't really reflect the true nature of the act-the use of the graffiti to harrass and intimidate the property owner-then I think hate crimes laws serve a good purpose, to differentiate between the guy who paints a swastika on a jewish neighbor's house from the kid who writes "I love Brenda" on the bathroom wall at school.
