she asks us all to lobby our butts off for this bill. time is of the essence, as the illinois house is already on overtime.
we hope to deliver a ton of petitions before the session ends. right now it is in rules, and we are working to get it out. it will probably get sent to executive committee. we need public pressure to keep this from being swept under the carpet.
we are working on a plan to get this out into the media. but for now,

On April 22, a bill was introduced to the Illinois General Assembly by representative Karen Yarbrough calling for the impeachment of George Bush. The bill takes up the issues of illegal spying, torture, detentions without charge or trial, manipulation of pre-war intelligence, and the leaking of classified information.

Quoting OpEd News, “Representative Yarbrough stumbled on a little known and never utilized rule of the US House of Representatives, Section 603 of Jefferson's Manual of the Rules of the United States House of Representatives, which allows federal impeachment proceedings to be initiated by joint resolution of a state legislature. From there, Illinois House Joint Resolution 125 (hereafter to be referred to as HJR0125) was born.”
