Rush, blah blah blah?
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 07:15 PM by jsamuel
Is this guy right or not?

He reached an agreement on "doctor shopping". That's what his attorney is crowing "not guilty" about.

He has been arrested for "prescription fraud", an extremely serious crime in Florida with serious punishment.

These are two seperate charges. Celebrate!

update: Ok, the guy has said maybe he is wrong. I think he is wrong. One charge, deal made...

1. What is the usual sentence...
For that, one both pleads of guilty or not guilty?

6. Anybody else, especially and poor or minority would have been booked
had a photo taken and been released maybe on bail until trial. He should be a felon and disallowed to vote like all the rest of the drug felons.

All charges will be dismissed as soon as he completes his little "diversion" program.

10. Is it a felony?
Can we refer to him as "felon Rush Limbaugh" till the 18 months are up?

Can we contact his sponsors and endorsement people to complain about a felon advertising their products?

11. The prescription fraud and "doctor shopping" are basically the
same thing. There is one count and the legal term is the fraud.

And regardless of what Roy Black says, Rush was definitely arrested. He will have an arrest record, at least for the next 18 months. He didn't go into a cell and he didn't have cuffs on, but he WAS arrested. If he wasn't arrested, then Mr. Black wouldn't have said his record would be expunged, as he did on Wolfie's show.

The spin is amazing out there. Somehow, they're trying to say that because he's reached this deal, it proves he's innocent. Bullshit! A deal indicates that Black thought he couldn't beat the charges in court and Rush is guilty as hell. The fact that he can have his arrest expunged if he makes it through the next 18 months is what makes it such a sweet deal.

12. Question: Can he not ingest ANY pain killers for 18 months?
Does he have to submit to random drug tests like normal drug offenders, or will the DA just trust him to stay clean?

15. How bullshit! He's getting special treatment...
This is NOT a plea deal. A plea deal says you plead GUILTY to a lesser charge to save the state time and money. This "deal" doesnt do that. In fact it is closer to a bribe! In this case he filed NOT GUILTY, but is paying 30 grand to have the charges dropped in 18 months, with the proviso that he continues receiving drug treatment.

That is such bullshit! I doubt any other normal person would be given such a deal.

This is a travesty of justice. 30 grand to this scumbag is nothing. And to top it off, he doesnt even have to admit to any crime, so he can continue saying he was not convicted of the charge - ie "I'm innocent!". Looks to me like the Repubs found a way to protect him after all!
