$100 for gas relief? Bill Gates says thanks
http://www.suntimes.com/output/steinberg/cst-nws-stein28.html

It's fun to watch politicians scramble, like ants on a burning log, to address public ire over gas prices. They want to be seen doing something, but, being politicians, they can't quite tackle the actual problem. Thus one Republican proposal is to resurrect the recently killed effort to drill for oil in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge -- thanks guys, that'll help -- and another is to send everybody a check for $100.

The 100-buck relief check could be seen as insulting symbolism, but I'm all for it. People are honked off about gas prices, and a C-note would create the illusion for them that their leaders actually care. Though would it be too radical to suggest the bail-out checks only go to families earning $100,000 a year or less, based on the reality that people of more modest means are hit harder by this? Or is that sort of idea so much out of favor that it's bad form even to suggest it?

2. If the idiot GOP ruled Congress passes this, which also opens ANWR
Send your $100 to a worthy DEM candidate. If the GOP thinks we can be bought as cheaply as they can, and they are willing to add EVEN MORE burden to our kids and grandkids (as this money will be borrowed thus added to the deficit) then they all need to know we are firing their asses come November.

5. Figured if the assholes are borrowing from our grandkids to bribe us
we best be investing that cash in some new leadership, for the sake of our grandkids.

BOSSHOG suggested we send LTTE about it to inspire others to do likewise.

My hope is if we get some noise about the idea out there, some GOP whiz kid will put the kabosh on the dumb ass scheme. ;) But, iffin they go through with it, well, send that money to help a campaign. Can you imagine if a million of us did that?

Have a very fruitful day ;)

3. Drilling for oil is not the answer
Oil is not the answer. Eisenhower sealed Anwar for all time. Jeb Bush wants no drilling off the Florida Coast.

It is now the time to come up with alternative solutions other than fossil fuels.

7. Jebby doesn't want drilling of the coast because
It's Cuba that wants to do it. And they're in league with "Red" China. whoo. be afraid. be very afraid.

millions and you want to settle for $100? they're trying to buy us off . . . cheap. the kicker is that to get the $100, we have to let them drill in anwr. so they think $100 will shut us up about the price of gasoline AND about the drilling.

14. Rich Daddy answer to everything
Throw money at it.

I thought they just passed a "Landmark" Energy Bill. What's with all these scrambling to pass CAFE standards and increase alternative energy funding.
