MOtopia: day one: all elected officials will work for minimum wage, with all living expenses paid for him and his family, no perks, no bribes, no exceptions.

elected officials caught taking bribes will be terminated and forbidden to ever work in government again, no exceptions. those convicted will do prison time, no exceptions.

i hear some folks say that we don't pay our congressmen and representatives enough, and that's the only way to attract good people, pay them well. don't we already pay them well and allow them to live in baronial splendor?

oh, and no war profiteering, anyone convicted of war profiteering will be hanged, no exceptions.

1. ....how about illegal immigrants taking the job for less than mini mun
wage?

And all profits from war go the boots on the ground.

2. I already suggested in another thread
That elected officials get paid far less (not necessarily minimum wage), and get none of the exorbitant perks, monstrous raises, retirement packages, fancy jets, etc. That would attract people who actually want to serve the people, *gasp*, rather than those who just want power, prestige and money.

If only.

3. we have no say when they raise their own wages
yet they force us to work for the least possible wage. it ain't right. and what they do in d.c. can hardly be called work.

4. Exactly
That whole idea of them being able to set their own wages, then give themselves raises (in amounts they determine) is ludicrous. What other employee gets to do that? Even C.E.O.s (if I'm not mistaken) have to get Board approval for their salaries and raises. It is outrageous!
