Were they worried about the jury getting stacked with Limbaugh loyalists? Were they worried about the defense putting the housekeeper witness on trial? Or was the replacement prosecutor politically wired--can he look forward to getting promoted now?

Don't get bamboozled. In criminal cases we don't call them "settlement agreements." They are plea bargains.

And while the prosecutor's recommendation to the court will carry great weight, the judge is not obligated to ratify the plea agreement.

Oh, and the money being paid is called a fine. Black can call it reimbursement, but that's BS.

7. If Rush had any sense of decency,

(I said "if"), he'd use his bacon-being-saved-from-frying-pan good fortune to lobby on behalf of the many unfortunate people who really ARE rotting in prison for prescription drug fraud. Someone posted last night about a man in Florida who was sentenced to 25 years for illegally obtaining Oxycontin for a crippling back problem. It should be the other way around; the slimy prosecutor who persecuted that poor man should be in prison for abusing his authority.

He pleads Not Guilty, the case is shelved for 18 months. After 18 months of "continuing treatment" the case is expunged, thrown out, and shredded.

From Doctor Shopping, to one count of Perscription Fraud, wow, talk about minor annoyance.

He can honestly say he is NOT GUILTY, and the facts of the case would back up his claim. His only plea before the case is "Not Guilty" and there is to be no trial for 18 months.

He can and will announce this was a win to get it over with, as advised by his attorney, with a pittiance of a fine, money he won't ever miss. Continuing the already progressing Drug Treatment, something he will say he was going to continue anyway.

For $33,000 about what he makes during a commecial break, he is off scott free, and the annoyance of the investigation is over. He will also claim it shows how weak the Politically motivated Prosecution of him was.

He will crow that it is a huge win for truth, and console Liberals everywhere for having missed their chance to see him behind bars.
