7. I thought of that when I heard

of the Italian soldiers being killed. They would be welcomed home as heroes.

It would be better to be alive and the dead don't care who welcomes them...but the families do and the country people do. They should. If we ask our men and women to go to war we should honor them.

bush says the press being kept away is for the families. I'm guessing the families would like to see them get a heroes welcome even more, see the people come out, the leaders with tears in their eyes. (Phelps should be kept far away)

It doesn't ease the pain of loss but they see how much others care.

Michigan just lost more. I saw the picture of a local kid, 23 years old. Sgt. Matthew Webber. He joined the guard for college money but went when called. Seemed to be a great, bright, kind and talented kid. He was injured in November and finally died from his wounds this week. Others injured with him died over the last months too.

Every number is a real person with real people whose lives will never be the same, will always have this void.

Sometimes war is called for. We have lost so many thousands in the last 30 years in wars that never should have started.
