So Bush wants more sacrifice?
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 03:47 PM by WakeMeUp
How much more am I supposed to sacrifice?

(This post prompted by this article....http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060429/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_27)

I have already endured 14 months of my child crying for her father EVERY DAY.

I have already cried thousands of tears.

I'm already on Xanax.

I work full time while taking care of a child by myself just so we have enough to cover our bills. My husband's salary is not enough.

I haven't had a complete night's sleep in over a year.

I still don't know if my soldier will make it home.

There are so many more just like me. And he's asking for more?

How much more?

How much more?

you're sacrificing plenty. Here's a hug.

Meanwhile, we are up to 2,400 dead from this bullshit war. Bring them home now!

We may together yet be an unstoppable force in ending this war. Thanks for your sacrifice. I will let railing against this crowd for zero sacrifices wait for another day.

33. No, that wasn't the point. Shopping was the only sacrifice * wanted
anyone to do after 9-11. I couldn't believe my ears when he said it. And so few people think the economy is great. If it's so great, why is * spending so much time running around the country trying to convince everyone?

OK, enough ranting about*. I wish you the best of luck. They are such creeps when it comes to helping and paying soldiers and their families.

26. Heartbreaking story.........makes me SO angry at "them"
I cannot fathom how Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld and all the other hawks are able to sleep peacefully at night when they read a story like yours....oh, I forgot, they don't read very much. I pray that the answer to your question is...no more. By the way, Rice told a news conference that she and Rummy were having a "great" time on her recent visit to Iraq!

28. The only thing good about visits like that
is that the soldiers on the bases they visit get much better food. My husband is sick of fried everything. They actually served him a quesadilla that had been fried!!! :puke:

He was on the base that was visited by Rumsfeld at Christmas. They got real ham and turkey that day.

I just keep telling myself, "Two more months (or so)."

29. This administration pretends that WW2 never happened.
They have ignored the fact that we sacrificed heavily to fight that war. A war where 6 million Jews and others died in the camps. Where it is said that nearly 20 million Russians died. And on and on. They have done the entire world a huge disservice in ignoring and throwing away what was gained through that war.

They need to face reality.

37. I hope we can find peace soon.
I'm also at my stress level. I'm nearly unable to continue much longer. For our sakes alone, I hope something good happens. And our lives are beautiful in some ways. I think of those in Darfur, or in the places of even Russia where there's no running water. And what water they carry, they have to pay for. I'm sick. Literally, I'm tired. I have lost my optimism. I guess I should leave it at that. Sharing misery does little good. I want inspiration.

31. Anyone who believes in the war will believe the sacrifice is
necessary, and that of course would include Bush.

Anyone who believes the war is useless will believe the sacrifice useless.

Most Americans are not affected and are not sacrificing anything, so claiming, as a people, to be "at war" is absurd. I see plenty of people in the US having a good time at ball parks, movies, etc., they don't look like war torn people. And that includes every right wing nut who claims to fear the Iraqis.

Bush tries to render romantic images from WWII that have nothing to do with his oil war.

32. Welcome to DU
And I totally agree. I live in a city of about 85,000. You would never know that an entire unit from this area was deployed in Iraq. Nothing in the paper, no signs, no support, nothing. Even the neighbor who has friends with "Bush '04" on their car act like my husband is just gone on a long vacation. :grr: It boggles the mind.

34. well, let's see what I can squeeze out . . .
- gas prices have about doubled

- my utilities bill (gas and electric) just jumped $140/month

- because of a bankruptcy reorganization by the company owning some local power plants, and their lawsuit over their assessments over the past ten years, my property taxes are about to rise 40% -- about $200/month

- prices of my medications (I'm on several) rise regularly . . . I get my most expensive medication for free from the manufacturer's Patient Asistance Program, but they're dropping that because of Medicare Part D . . . not one of the 60+ plans in my area include this medication in their formulary -- another $220/month

my income is disability and some VERY part-time employment . . . lemme see if I can find somewhere to "sacrifice" . . . :sarcasm:

35. And it all sits at Bush's feet
Sometimes I don't understand how people can't get the fact that if you can't lead war operations, you damn well can't lead anywhere else.

Let's hope the tide is turning.
