OMFG Has * repealed Posse Comitatus Act
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 05:49 PM by serryjw
quote.......
Several parts of the Defense Department are building large databases of information from sources such as local police, military personnel and the Internet, and in doing so, the military is edging toward a sensitive area that has been off-limits to it since the 1970s: domestic surveillance and law enforcement, according to the report.

quote.......
President George W. Bush has signed executive orders giving him sole authority to impose martial law, suspend habeas corpus and ignore the Posse Comitatus Act that prohibits deployment of U.S. troops on American streets.

1. What I think is really troubling is that the PCA
was set up so the military would not be able to come in and usurp local law enforcement or become domestic law enforcement. What it did not protect from was the imperial presidency which BushCo wants. It is horrifying to realize that they have been carefully planning how to deal with us if we eventually rise up against them.

2. The question is

3. No--I think this is not the Pentagon--
it is PNAC. This is the real rationale for keeping Rumsfailed in his position, even though it currently looks as though he has some sort of neuro-meltdown. I think that the PNACers don't really want anyone else getting close to their plan to dismantle American government as we used to know it.

14. They won't use the miltary
except for select units.

They've already said they'll use foreign assets and mercenary types like Blackwater.

You will not not be dancing in the streets to greet foriegn soldiers.

Will you?

8. When * (Rummy) starts
'edging' towards something we know we are in trouble. He does what he wants now without Congressional approval...why does he need it for this?

"Posse Comitatus Act" and "george w. bush" and got a bunch of stuff.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22Posse+Comitatus+Act%22+%22george+w.+bush%22+

I think this would be a most reliable source...

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/10/05/bush.reax/

"One option is the use of a military that's able to plan and move," he said. "So that's why I put it on the table. I think it's an important debate for Congress to have."

The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 bans the military from participating in police-type activity on U.S. soil.

But Dr. Irwin Redlener, associate dean of Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and director of its National Center for Disaster Preparedness, told The Associated Press the president's suggestion was dangerous.

13. Test deployment last year?
I'll have to do my due diligence (anyone is welcome to search too of course), but I'm recalling some report from last fall, I think, of a test deployment of troops on to public transporation in one of the southeastern states.

16. TSA viper teams
They've also used troops, or people dressed up as troops running security at college football games. Troops running school security(mostly in the south)

and they've used Delta force to provocateur protests, and they were used at Waco(mostly in a consulting role)

and probably a 100 other instances I can't remember off the top of my head.

and they've always had the national guard which I'm sure they'd like to use federally.

17. That's why we have a National Guard
Because of Posse Comitatus. They are not considered military and are except from PCA

to not get Congressional approval
quote.........
A Washington Post article last Sunday “Rumsfeld OKs wider anti-terror role for Military”, exposed another frightening part of Rumsfeld’s “transformative” vision. Following the next terrorist attack on American soil, Rumsfeld plans to deploy “elite Special operations troops” to conduct military operations in countries outside of war zones. Under the secretary’s direction, 53,000 paramilitaries and Green Berets will be released into sovereign nations in violation of international law, conducting renditions, assassinations, sabotage, and acts of piracy. Rumsfeld’s plan abandons all prior constraints on the military and converts the entire world into a “free-fire” zone.

There’s no doubt that Rumsfeld’s malignant strategy encompasses the American “homeland” as well. It was Rumsfeld who pushed the Posse Comitatus law towards extinction by setting up NorthCom, a military command post within the United States. This creates the possibility that future military operations will target the American people, a threat which was anticipated by the founding fathers. Under new legislation the military is free to spy on American citizens, deploy mercenaries to natural disasters, and, in the event of a terrorist attack, arrest citizens without charges.

12. Busholini wanted this for the Gulf Coast after Katrina.
The reason aide was withheld for as long as it was is because the Bush Regime wanted the US Military to be in charge.
