Are there some poor kids rotting in jail for doing what Rush did?
Are there any outraged threads about the fact that Rush could walk free of drug charges while others rot in prison for Doctor shopping?

2. Yes!
We should all email the Palm Beach prosecutor and ask how many minority or poor defendants were given a similar deferred prosecution agreement when facing multiple felony drug charges. I'm willing to bet that the number is somewhere in the single digits....

3. Yes, it is outrageous
and Yes, it's being discussed on other blogs.

Rush should not get an expunged record
for staying clean and sober for one year!

This is way over the top- no but no one gets that
kind of treatment! That's especially true if they are
poor.

BS- just plain BS.

5. 60% of the U. S. prison population is made up of first offenders....
...but I don't know how many of those are first time drug offenders. My guess would be at least 50%.

6. Rush was darn lucky
he got busted in Florida. That was one of the earliest states on the rehabilition court bandwagon. Dade and Broward Counties have been very much in the camp of trying to see how they could most effectively use their efforts to stop the revolving doors at the jails and prisons.
Rush has money, yes. But he qualified for the approach he has decided on. If his crime had not qualified, he would not have gotten the rehab. option.
We should be glad he is going to be in structured and monitored treatment. If he takes a p*ss test and doesn't pass--boo hoo-- he's toast.
Let's consider him as a poster child for many others who should be going to treatment rather than learning how to make shanks and hooking up with the really bad guys.

7. Poor kids do not have the luxury of Doctor shopping
that's what the Mother of all Cysts was charged with.

And he beat it by throwing large chunks of money at Roy Black.
