Here's MSM's commentary on the dinner. Associated Press has one line for Colbert. What about the "Gannon" button on the podium, the Helen Thomas skit, etc. Scalia had fun. We knew they would never cover Colbert.

Bush Lampoons Self at Press Corp Dinner

WASHINGTON —

It was twice the fun for members of the White House Correspondents' Association and guests Saturday night when President Bush invited a look-alike, sound-alike sidekick to poke fun at himself and fellow politicians.

"Ladies and gentleman, I feel chipper tonight. I survived the White House shakeup," the president said.

The featured entertainer was Stephen Colbert, whose Comedy Central show "The Colbert Report" often lampoons the Washington establishment.


Award winners honored at the dinner were:

1. One innocent explanation is they were trying to make a deadline.

The more likely explanation is that AP has been ordered not to mention Colbert.

2. I think it weirded them all out. It had me worried until I noticed that

Colbert didn't crack a sweat or look the least bit nervous.

Probably told no Colbert. Imus made filthy personal remarks, big play. Colbert delivers high level, relevant satire, no play.

May be they'll start attacking him if they realize how got that will do.

3. Colbert's site says he's on 60 Minutes tomorrow

They're gonna have to address it one way or another.

When he repeatedly flipped off Scalia, I laughed so hard that I couldn't stop. Haven't laughed like that in a long, long time. The expressions on GB and LB's faces also made me laugh damn hard. Bee-yoo-tee-ful.

Next year try to get a ticket and actually GO to the event. Your sources (the WH?)neglected to let you in on the highlight of the evening.. "Truthiness" was spoken to power by a supposedly fake newsman, Stephen Colbert. It must have been shocking to finally hear truth spoken aloud in front of so many liars ....

Try to go next year, dear. Reporting is so much "fresher" when one does not just print the talking points.
