Colbert WAY surpassed my expectations....
Usually when we DUers get all excited about someone being skewered or "ripped a new one," the actual event, albeit funny, is a bit of a letdown. But this truly was historically great satire!

1. I bet Smith is being interrogated at length about why Colbert was there.

23. Maybe it's because Smith was leaving as the head of the association
Edited on Sun Apr-30-06 02:48 PM by rocknation
He identified himself as the "outgoing president", and I don't think he was referring to his personality.

16. It wasn't funny, and I don't think it was meant to be. Colbert is one
who knows wording and timing very well when it comes to comedy.

He wanted this one to make 'em think...and it sure as hell did. You could have heard a pin drop half the time.

Bravo.

6. Interesting watching the replay . . . .
When I watched it live, it seemed as if the crowd were nearly silent during Colbert's speech. And yet, listening the second time around, where I know the jokes coming up, I hear much more crowd reaction, and positive reaction at that. Our boy did himself proud!

That was unbelievable. To say all that with the president 6 feet away. That was brilliant, I still cannot stop laughing. That was so satisfying to watch.

17. I would have. To hell with the lot of them. If the truth makes you
that uncomfortable, maybe you should get off your sorry ass and do something about it. What Colbert did should have been done on countless other occasions by countless other people. It's a little thing called SPEAKING OUT. In a little free country called AMERICA.
