was on Ms. Bush. A very quick head nod to Ms. Bush and immediately to Ms. Hellen Thomas with a handshake and a kiss to the cheek. Why? Because these people are filth. You have to shake the hand of the president, but not of the wife. I guess my life is limited now for writing this...

You'll see the president does shake Colbert's hand and exchanges some words. Pickles said something to him, maybe "That was funny." That's the most likely thing under the circumstances.
I think the Bushes were within the bounds of politeness and I didn't see a snub. At least in the context that he had just endowed the pres with another asshole.
