Jonathan Swift (Gulliver's Travels) wrote an absolutely scathing piece called "A Modest Proposal," in which he proposed that babies are eaten to feed the poor.
Steven Colbert is today's Jonathan Swift. There is no question about that now. And the best part? The press corps had no fucking clue until they were uncomfortable as all hell during his speech.
