Can someone find out who sponsored the Texas Futility Law?
I know it was signed into law by G. W. Bush when he was governor of Texas, but who introduced the bill? Who sponsored it? Who started the ball rolling on it? And how much insurance pac money did this person get?

2. Here
Put advance directive in the search box, a bunch of links come up to the actions taken on the bill. You can follow who introduced it in each house, etc. I'll look in there too, just thought it was faster with more people looking.

providing administrative penalties.

History of SB 1260 found here:

Here's Garnet Coleman's Texas House of Representatives' page

http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/dist147/coleman.htm

The bill's author, Michael J. Moncrief (D), is no longer a senator. There is no info on his bills, other than archives, at the Texas senate pages. Moncrief is now the mayor of Ft. Worth. He was elected mayor May 3, 2003.
Mayor Moncrief served for two years as a Texas House representative (1971-1972), 12 years as Tarrant County judge (1974-1986) and 12 years as Texas State senator (1991-2003).

From his mayor's bio page:
During his tenure as state senator, Mayor Moncrief passed many pieces of landmark legislation. He has been recognized nationally for authoring the Texas Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which has assured hundreds of thousands of Texas children an opportunity to receive medical services.
As senator, Mayor Moncrief also authored precedent-setting legislation that protects citizens from stalkers, protects animals from canned hunts and assists elderly citizens in need of home health care or assisted living.

I noticed he left off that he authored the advance directives bill. I wonder why? :sarcasm:

I'll let someone else figure out the money trail.
