Why I think political commentators should be more like sports commentators

You hear and read these idiots trying to finese how 32% is not all bad. That the preznit is doing a good job. He's a victim of bad luck. Things are starting to turn his way. Blah blah blah.

You don't see scrubbies kinds of disaster covered like this in sports.

When a football team gets beaten 45-0 you get coverage like "It was a total blow out." "A poor performance by..." You don't get, "Well sure we gave up 45 points, but we got 3 first downs today. That''s something we can really build on."

When a team loses 8-1 in hockey, you hear "Today was a sorry day for..." or "Today was a total mess."
You don't hear, "Well, sure we got creamed. But that goal we scored with 4 seconds to play will really ignite us for our next game."

I want that kind of honesty in political coverage.

1. Sports coverage is the most honest coverage left in news

They tell you exactly what happened, they put it in context by telling you how long its been since something has been done, or how unlikely or likely it is that some feat or event will happen. Sportscasters are either unabashedly rooting for the home team, if they are local casters, or doing their best to be fair, if they are national. The biased ones still give you the information, even when it goes against their team.
