Today on ABC’s This Week, conservative pundit George Will said the appointment of new White House Press Secretary Tony Snow was an “aesthetic” fix for a “substance problem” and would do nothing to help the Bush administration. Watch it:

WILL: just what conservatives really want, is government by Fox News. But he’s a man of wit, charm, intelligence, goodwill and it won’t make a particle of difference. It really won’t. Because it’s not a communication problem. It’s a substance problem. Politics is about something. Now, this is an aesthetic improvement in that room in the White House, period.

As I occasionally do. The press secretary is a cosmetic position. Tony Snow is just the lipstick they put on the pig. He'll tell the lies better, but they will still be lies and we will still know that they are lies.

At least he can speak in unbroken sentences!

You'd have to be nuts to think ANYONE Shrub would appoint to Press Secretary will ever tell the real truth!

I also think everything will depend on how the press corps question Snow each day. I think they felt sorry for Scotty and went easy on him many times.

6. BushCo needed a friendlier face

Stonewall Scottie just was so flat that and he never connected with anyone. A good press secretary can at least trade sarcastic remarks and not get all upset.
