Freepers on Darfur
Edited on Sun Apr-30-06 03:20 PM by julialnyc
Okay...I never go "over there" to look..... well I look if people post links, but I was going to see their reaction to Colbert (I couldn't find it), but couldn't help looking at a thread that was about saving Darfur. Before I opened the link to read the comments, I actually thought that it looked like they were interested in stopping the genocide and I was about to feel good that at least they were decent human being about the people being slaughtered. I was wrong.

This should make Tom Terrific's fan's happy, Representative Tancredo is pushing for more U.S. involvement over there.

There is something unsavory, in the face of genocide, to ask the authors of genocide for their permission before you send peacekeepers.

Could anyone imagine asking permission of the SS before kicking in the doors of the death camps?

I am inclined to say about the UN the same thing I said about the IAEA. Its not their job to stop genocide, its just their job to monitor the process, fill out the paperwork, affect a proper public posture of pained concern and, most of all, keep track of those frequent flyer miles.

What did they do in Rwanda? Nothing. What have they done in Congo, where millions have died? Count the dead, where they dare. And what have they done in the South Sudan, where two million died? Nothing at all. And now, in the Darfur, what now?

Nothing, but thats not the point. The point is that they are monitoring the situation, and will continue monitoring the situation until there is no one left alive to monitor.

What?

Another U.N. bailout?

How about they cancel a few of the million dollar "parties" this year and use the money for Darfur instead of gourmet feasts and travel expenses.

Someone tell Tancredo the purse is a bit empty right now...

Next?

Let Hollywood pay for this.

Let Hollywood provide it's own troops to protect the Darfur region since they constantly take the opportunity to belittle our troops.

Edited on Sun Apr-30-06 03:36 PM by Tim4319
This country and sent reps (Pat Robertson) over to enslave children to work in the diamond mines, but when it comes to saving people from genocide, who cares! That is so sick. Free Republic and the people who support Free Republic are all ASS HOLES! And I hope this makes their web site!

thank you for posting this as the tragedy of Darfur becomes worse and worse. as if it were not bad enough that Arab Muslim is exterminating black Muslim, raping their wives, all actions to wipe out the line (genocide); that the refugees who have left are being terrorized in their camps; now there is news that they may starve as well. enough with the jokes about Hollywood, folks. these are fellow human beings in dire straits. there but for the grace of God go you. we, the richest and most compassionate nation in the world, can galvanize help - food, Nato troops, to stem the disaster. and we should. NOW.

The slaughter of BLACK Muslims by Arab Muslims doesn't seem to capture the attention of America's black "leaders", "Black Muslims", "Black Nation of Islam" or the "Black Panthers" --- all of whom still happily "convert" to Islam in our PRISONS and take Arab names......

Dumb asses.....

Yet -- these same black morons are raising hell about an ALLEDGED rape at DUKE!
Today, it was reported that the Black Panthers want to INVESTIGATE the case.....INTERROGATE the suspects......and DEMOSTRATE "solidarity" with the ALLEGED victim...

Go figure....You couldn't make this stuff up.

2. I don't think we want Bush calling the shots on Darfur
I'm in favor of putting some of our troops under the command of The United Nations, but I don't want Der Chimpenfuhrer calling the shots.

The last thing Darfur needs is to have our "president" doing to them what we're doing to Iraq.

I support NATO or UN troops going in there.

Let's not send our own troops until President Russ Feingold and Secretary of State Murtha are in charge.

9. Biden proposed legislation over a year ago
That, apparently, is still in committee. How many have died since then?

5. What kind of monster says things like this:
"Let Hollywood provide it's own troops to protect the Darfur region since they constantly take the opportunity to belittle our troops."

So according to them (and I'll even pretend Hollywood belittles the troops) millions of people should suffer to teach Hollywood a lesson? They can twist the biggest humanitarian crisis into having two sides? Why don't they take this moment to say that Bush can handle this better than Clinton handled Rwanda....instead they want to ignore it because people like Clooney (who is using his celebrity to shine spotlight on a horrific situation) want to help. For people who think their so faithful, don't they realize how they are responding to a situation which effects millions..... I would feel like I was booking my ticket to hell if I spoke like that.

7. The crazy thing is how bitter they can get over a person
That I have heard many words from both political parties about Sudan (lots of words and no action of course), but this should not be a partisan topic. Hell, Bush even applauded the marchers today saying that they are the best the country has to offer (again, nice sentiment, but no action). The point is that they are so angry that a celebrity is trying to help a cause that the immediately get hostile to the celebrity and the cause. It's sick, immature and abusive (you can pretty much tag the majority of their reactions with those sentiments.

"Let Hollywood provide it's own troops to protect the Darfur region since they constantly take the opportunity to belittle our troops." WTF?

I wish for once a freeper would give an example - just one - of someone in Hollywood "belittling" our troops. C'mon, you freeper dickheads, I'm calling you out - give me one example, just one, I'm begging you, of someone in Hollywood belittling our fighting men and women.

No, I thought not.

I have no interest in what the people employed in the film and television industry get up to, but still believe it's bloody stupid to blame "Hollywood" for the Bush administration's shortcomings.

The only reason why Clooney and the rest of the Hollywood left want more of an American presence in Darfur is so to provide cover for the UN personnel when the shooting starts.

The United States has provided $188 million, but the BBC reports little has been received from the European Union or the Arab League.
Well, there's a candidate for a budget cut. It's a sad day when the EU and the Arab League have wiser policy than do we.
