Chickenshit Liberal Media AFRAID to laugh with Chimperor in room
I personally think that the Media was AFRAID to laugh, remember the news had just come down that they can HANG anyone that says the wrong thing. And look at the "TIMING" of that announcement (just like the marijuana 4/20 FDA shoutout, too coincidental)

WHo's to say what the magical words, "National Security" MEAN? It's a SECRET. We're going to JAIL you but we can't tell you WHY? They are ALL in the Prime position to GO DOWN. Live in the wonderful Hotel Gitmo in a dog cage. Like DUNE, Bush has the "weirding way" where he points at someone and they DIE.

Last year Bush's Prozac'd car killer, stood up there and talked about Bush MASTURBATING HORSES and everyone thought that was HILARIOUS. When Colbert walked off stage HE gave Bush a perfunctory handshake - C'mon, where have you NOT seen people who have the opportunity to grab the hand of a President who DIDN'T HOLD ON and try to milk it or talk to them as long as they could, if for nothing else tobe SEEN by the media, as a Buddy to the most powerful man in the universe. I'm sure if that had been President Clinton, he and Colbert would have shook hands and talked for a full minute minimum,,

I Know he was doing his best to GET TO Thomas, to shore her up and show her support, thanking her for all she's done, and for the video help, SHE he respects to no end as do all of us I'm sure.

THis was a Defining Moment in American History. This reminds me of the Charlie Chaplin film where he imitates Hitler, and in the end he gets up and gives such a ROUSING SPEECH for all mankind that it was BANNED for many years, called a Socialist, shelving the film when they could.

Colbert may have been, like the 60's the last Gasp of true freedom and social Consciousness io Public.

But the media, the right wing side savvy enough to know that he ISN'T a right winger at all (unlike one of his guests a few weeks ago who obviously thought Colbert was a hard core Rightie, that made it all the more hilarious), and the Liberal counterparts were too SCARED to LAUGH, to be caught on camera SHOWN HOWLING at the goddam awful truth laid bare for anyone with half a brain. As witty as Colbert is I think he even dumbed it DOWN somewhat, because normally he has a RAPIER WIT, sharp as a sword.

So here's to YOU, YOU BUNCH OF CHICKENSHIT COWARDS, Oh YE who have SOLD US ALL OUT for a bag of silver, their whole country, and allowed this EVIL to proliferate - the CHICKENS have Truely come home to ROOST, right in that ROOM.

WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING for Colbert, we have to show him that MILLIONS are behind him. An sometimes I wonder IF he's actully Joking about being in Govt. Seriously, if Reagan, a hack actor could do it, why not a BRILLIANT Comedian?

Can you imagine a State of the Union from Colbert?!

Of course when he said, "I'm not kidding.." you'd better listen.

TURN IN YOUR PRESS CARDS YOU HACKS, You UnAmerican Fifth Columnists, or Pull your head out of the MUCK and SLIME and FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT, you are all going DOWN. We're at the point in History where it's FIGHT or DIE, it's that serious.

Someone said something about sending Colbert 50,000 flags, how can we do that, I'll put up a $100 right NOW. Tons and TONS of those little flags could be sent to his Studio, let him plant them everywhere and show our love and esteem for a Genius who if we're lucky WOKE at least a FEW of these cowards up!

2. They are NOT liberal. They are part of the junta.
They didn't laugh because they knew Colbert nailed them on their failures and on their pretensions that they are the media...they are nothing more than parts of the propaganda arm of the white house....... and they like to pretend otherwise

14. That was a low moment. After that clip, I could no longer watch
the thing in the White House. Children dying (and they are children at my age,) and he and the White House Press Corp(se) yukking it up.

:puke:

4. I suppose I should have put quotes around Liberal
I forget that sometimes people take you literally without and emoticon or whatever, no, I'm Takebackthemedia.com, and sure, yeah I know it's the Propaganda arm, thanks for pointing that out, some people actually DON'T get that.

There were SOME liberals in the room, and that's also part of what I was mentioning, THEY SHOULD have been slamming the table and howling to make sure that Colbert Knew he had SOME supporters in the room, but I didn't look like anyone did that at least.

thanks for the comments, well founded..

6. "Liberal" is debatable, however
you are right on the mark. Why is everyone so afraid of this administration? These guys are all chickenhawk wussy's. This presidency could sink like a stone if the press, or other politicians for that matter, would just stand up to these morans. When is someone going to say the emperor has no clothes? I would love to meet Rove, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush or any other admin hacks in a boxing ring. See how tough they really are...

8. It's not about them
It's about YOU coming to a consensus about what kind of society you want to live in. Colbert fired a heat-seeking missle into the bow of WHAT NO MENSCH WANTS. Forget boxing rings. Box *them in with numbers.

10. That speech was funny, and not funny.
It was brilliant, and quite shocking. What he was saying was the bitter truth, disguised in humor as it was. These greatest truths were told in jest.

I can understand why they weren't laughing. What he was saying was a slap in the face for the media that stood by in Bush's first term, stood by the war, and didn't speak out for change when they could before the '04 election. Not to mention, it was a slap in the face to Bush, one he has been needing for a long time.

11. The Chickenshit Liberal Media
The Chickenshit Liberal Media was just as much a target of Colbert's barbs as Bush.

Over the last five years you people were so good over tax cuts, W.M.D. Intelligence, the affect of global warms. We Americans didn't want to know, and you had the courtesy not to try to find out.

12. It seemed to me that Colbert got quite a few laughs.
But I was watching the dinner on CSPAN a majority of the time.
When I flipped over to MSNBC and FOX it seemed that the audio was more focused on whomever was at the podium and it was hard to tell if Steven was getting any laughs. But on CSPAN the audio seemed to even out both the audience and the podium and it was easier to tell that there were quite a few enjoying what Colbert had to say.

13. The media is not a propaganda arm of Bush, it's the other way around
with the Bush Government serving as the front for GE, Murdoch, et al.

The national corporate media is doing its job -- controlling democracy. We, the People, need to recognize this fundamental truth about The Information Age, and quit pining for some mythical day when the media returns to its alleged role as seeker after truth.

15. Right!
You said it, brother. So very well, you said it like it is.

I was so proud when they picked Helen to be a part of that skit. She is a star. And we know who is honest. And we didn't even need a warrant to do it.

When he was standing up there, I had visions of a smokey room in 1937, where Hitler's henchmen were given the order to remove the speaker. But that didn't happen. And it didn't happen because it's not Bush's America. And it never will be.

What a great comparison. I need to see Chaplin's speech again. So little progress in such a long time.

As much as I would like to see Colbert showered with praise, he doesn't need it. He knows. And it's good.

22. Yep, that was mine
two versions actually the one online at our site and the 30 second version which was one of 14 finalists out of 1500 entries in MoveOn's Bush in 30 Seconds.. got to go on the Scarborough show the next night after the MoveOn event and was ready to Rumble with that sadass, he'd threatened to cut off our microphones the last time I was on his show, and I was all set to give him the old,

"So Joe, you DON'T SUPPORT OUR TROOPS?" if he said anything about my ad,

Also had a baby pacifier in my pocket and was going to hold it up and say, "Here's something for Ken Mehlman and the rest of you whining Right Wingers.." and then walk off camera..

But Joe LOVED the ad and praised it, etc - threw me off :)

I've got others at the site if you want to check it out, we've got like 50 political flash attack ads,etc..

thanks!

Guilty as charged by Colbert.
That's why they didn't laugh very much - didn't laugh nearly as much as we did.
