Poll question: Is the GOP a front for Fascism?
It appears that way to me... sure, they haven't always been this "bad", but man o' man, they sure as hell are that extreme these days. So now I would like to see if others here think the GOP has become a Fascist Party in our Democracy, attempting to destroy our checks and balances for more corporate control over government and it's people. What say you... and please scholars, chime in and correct me if I am over-simplifying.

1. Not John Danforth's GOP or Lowell Weicker's GOP but there's a
marked incline for the GOP of Jesse Helms, Jeff Sessions, Tom Coburn, FOX News, and so forth.

And the complicity of nutcase fundies doesn't help much either.

2. I bet your 3rd alternative gets votes only from visiting trolls.
Maybe the mods could track those votes & get a little advanced warning...

3. Well I voted for it
But mostly as a protest vote against a very narrow poll.

4. Colbert
Watching Colbert and the way the RWCM treated it as if it didn't happen really brings things home.

My basic plan is to get my education, and leave if I have to.

It's pretty sad to think about.

5. Wait, you asked if it were a "Front."
but there are no choices.

I don't think it's a front. I think the Goopers are pefectly honest about being fascist assholes. I think the people who voted for GeeDuhb wanted a fascist asshole to be re-elected President. They thought it was in their best interests to do so.

Now, a lot of those folks are having second thoughts.

Let's hope they have third, and fourth thoughts as well. That'd be nice for a change.

7. Yes
It's the party of mean spirited, nationalistic, and bigoted individuals. But other than that it's fine.

8. Absolutely. The GOP is an organization committed to the privatization
of government and the overthrow of democracy in the paid service of wealthy private interests.

"The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it comes strong than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power".
Franklin D. Roosevelt

9. I don't think so, however...
I think there are many who support them that are fascists. The sad thing is many do not even realize it. The average person in the US does not understand what fascism is thanks to lack of education. The same can be said for communism...
